  “We went here several times over our short stay in Bath. It really is a delightful pub and restaurant, spacious, warm, friendly with great food, cocktails and drinks. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming - we had two great evening meals with well cooked, interesting tastes in a lovely setting. Highly recommended.”

  “We are locals, and have been here a number of times. It's been growing on us, as they seem to keep getting better at everything they do. This is an establishment that seems to understand the different elements that combine to make a great restaurant: excellent food and presentation, creative yet not pretentious; great atmosphere -- relaxed, comfortable and rustic; and excellent service, from the server at the table to all of the staff who look up from what they're doing to smile and acknowledge you as you walk past. Walcot House is a very meat-oriented restaurant (they own Green Street Butchers nearby) but they always manage to accommodate my vegan requests without complaint. Prices are reasonable also. It's everything you'd want in a restaurant that you'd enjoy coming to again and again.”

  “The restaurant has a beautiful, classy atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the evening. The wine was excellent, and the food was delicious — I had the Pan Roasted Cod while my fiancée loved the Hand Cut Pappardelle. It’s one of the more pricey restaurant in Bath, but the quality of the food, service and overall experience made it feel worth it, especially for a special occasion. We’d happily return and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Bath”

  “My wife and I came to Walcot House in Bath to celebrate our anniversary, and there was a lot to like. I'd popped a note on the reservation that we were celebrating, and we were warmly welcomed at the door and kindly asked if it was a special occasion. We said it was our anniversary, and they seemed genuinely pleased we'd chosen Walcot House, as were we, because the venue looks great. We were walked through to our table in the restaurant, which has a lovely open kitchen and a good vibe. To start we shared the hand dived scallops with Cafe de Paris, the focaccia, and the burrata with fennel, orange and olive salad, candied walnuts and sourdough crumb, and the scallops were the standout, really really nice. For mains my wife had the chicken, ham and wild garlic pie with buttered greens and chicken butter sauce, and I went for the roast Wiltshire Horn lamb with a lamb shoulder and potato cake, peas, broad beans and mint. Both were really good and we were both happy with everything we ate. The one thing that let it down for us was the occasion itself. When we were handed over to our restaurant waiter, who did a good job serving us, it seemed like nothing had been relayed about the anniversary. It's nothing dramatic, but in the past, including the night before just up the road in Bath, we've been given a little celebratory note or a kind message spelt out in chocolate on the dessert plate. We never asked for it, but it's a lovely touch and it always lands well. Without it, the meal just didn't quite feel like an anniversary meal, which was a real shame given how much we'd enjoyed the food. We've no ill feeling towards the place at all, and we'd happily recommend Walcot House for the cooking, but having had some really special occasion meals elsewhere we came away feeling ok rather than amazed. If you're after somewhere lovely to eat then it's well worth a visit, but if you're marking a special occasion it might be worth bearing that in mind.”

  “THE MOST INCREDIBLE SPOT IN BATH Book a table - have the best dinner of your life. My friend and I came here on our first night after a bad dinner and so sad we couldn't eat here twice... we came the first night for several cocktails and some bar snacks - which blew us away and forced us to book a table the next evening. We went all out with starters, a sharing steak (for one) 7 negronis, wine, desert and cheese... It felt like we had the whole menu. It was absolutely incredible. The flavours were exceptional, the service was amazing. The staff, the atmosphere, everything made this place my new favourite. The steak was cooked to perfection, the negronis were out of this world and the scallops had some unusual pairing of flavours that worked SO WELL. I can't wait to come again one day. Thank you for an amazing evening Walcot.”

  “First time here for a small post-wedding group for lunch including the bride and groom. Treated to a bottle of fizz 'on the house'. Food excellent, service friendly without being overbearing. Exactly what the occasion required. Would definitely return given the opportunity. Highly recommended.”

  “Lamb tough and arrived cold. Couldn't cut it with steak knife. Risotto more like Rice Pudding mostly cream. Noisy restaurant. Music too loud. Makes conversation impossible but then everyone shouting. I get it's a good atmosphere but probably over rated. Definitely overpriced for the quality of the food. I certainly wouldn't rush back”

  “We met friends here. They had kindly invited us, for which we were grateful. The dining room was bright and our table had plenty of space. Unfortunately, we were right below a speaker which was just a tad too loud. It turned out later that the staff were aware of this and recommended that "next time" (perhaps a little presumptuous) we should ask to sit at one of the middle tables. Most of us had the Cornish Fish Soup, which was essential a shellfish broth with no fish pieces or similar in it. The flavour was ok but it wasn't what was expected for £11. My main course was monkfish, and the dish was nicely thought out, and didn't need the additional side which the waitress was very keen for me to order. As it turned out, I could manage a few spoonfuls of the side and a lot was wasted (which I hate doing). The monkfish was tasty but perhaps a bit on the rubbery end of firm. The red pepper concoction was a nice complement to the fish. So food overall a bit mixed unfortunately. My husband's lamb was rather less exciting, not helped by it being cool on serving. As we were invited, we didn't raise it with the staff at the time. Overall, it should have been nicer, based on the menu descriptions. But we were happy to have had the chance to try it, thanks to our friends' kind invitation.”
