About The Ivy Bath Brasserie & Garden

The Ivy Bath Brasserie & Garden is a British restaurant in Bath, at 39 Milsom St, serving all-day dining. Dessert centres on the Centre Court Melting Bombe, shaped like a tennis ball, with sauce poured over at the table so the dish finishes in front of you. Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the service, with servers described as attentive, friendly and welcoming, and a booking host and table server praised together on one visit. Among dishes, the scallop starter, Moroccan chicken and teriyaki salmon get named, and one diner describes the Centre Court Melting Bombe, a dessert that looks like a tennis ball until sauce is poured over at the table. Close behind come the interiors, called colourful, light and relaxing, with the ladies' washroom mentioned twice. Others praise the vegetarian and vegan choices, and a wedding party and an afternoon tea group both report good experiences. Criticism is mixed but specific. One reviewer found the lobster risotto missing seasoning and the truffle too subtle. Another disliked a roast dinner served as meat and potatoes in a Yorkshire pudding. A third, expecting more attention to detail at the prices, got a main on a worn plate and tap water in a carafe with mineral deposits. The first two Bloody Marys arrived without garnish, and staff fixed it immediately once told.

“Went for some afternoon tea with my family. The atmosphere was very pleasant and quiet. The staff members were welcoming, kind and very helpful on guiding us on how this package, 30+£ per person works. Must say I am delighted with the experience that we all had. Must visit for couples, families and grandchildren with their grandparents. Very beautiful interior design, can take pictures for Instagram 🤭”

“Had a fantastic experience here, service was awesome, food was awesome, best restaurant I’ve been to in the UK!!! Me and my mom had a great dinner together, I forget our servers name she was blonde but she was so nice and super attentive to us! Also the ladies bathroom is so cool. If you’re looking for a delicious meal come here while you’re in Bath!!”

“We chose to dine at the Ivy because of its exceptional atmosphere. However, considering the prices, we would have expected more attention to detail. For example, my main course was served on a plate that was so worn it should have been withdrawn from service a while ago. The carafe that our tap water was served in had visible mineral deposits. I ordered an additional drink but had to request the drink included in the menu separately as it was not offered outright.”

“What a truly wonderful eating experience at The Ivy. As soon as you walk in the beautifully decorated entrance you are greeted by the smartly dressed and professional staff. The decor inside is so colourful, light and quite relaxing. Our meals were exquisite. We had the Moroccan Chicken and Teriyaki Salmon. Both beautifully presented. I had The Ivy Royale cocktail which was delightful. For our dessert we had the Centre Court Melting Bombe. Very topical at the time as Wimbledon was on. It looked like a real tennis ball before they poured the sauce over in front of you at the table. Definately one of our favourite restaurants in Bath.”

“Beautiful building, attentive staff, food superb. Having been to The Ivy in Clifton, it was lovely to experience The Ivy in Bath too, with a similar experience. The Ladies washroom was decorated in a similar way!”
