What reviewers say
Reviewers most often mention moussaka, chicken gyros, calamari and pita bread.
Customer Review Summary
Moussaka is the dish reviewers raise most, called the clear winner of one table's three dishes and the one delicious item even in a disappointed diner's account. Close behind, the chicken gyros draw praise for a huge, tasty portion, and the kleftiko is described as incredibly tender. Hummus, calamari, pitta bread and tzatziki also earn mentions, and several note generous portions and fresh, flavorful dishes that suit sharing. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and warm, and the atmosphere is described as cozy, lively and fun. The main caveat is crowding. Busy Saturdays leave tables crammed, and one reviewer reports slow service, a calamari order they had to chase, burnt kolokithopitaki that were doughy inside, and acidic dolmades. Another found the courgette fritters tasted like nothing. A couple of reviewers suggest booking ahead. One diner who left a water bottle behind describes a staff member contacting them the next day and posting it back to London.

“This may not be a 'posh' restaurant, but it's good value, great food and friendly staff who look after you. The atmosphere upstairs was young, friendly & fun. We also managed to get in on a Saturday night without a reservation, although it was busy enough that I'd recommend booking ahead if you can.”

“I haven’t eaten this much food in soo long!!! We ordered the Meat Feast and it was absolutely amazing!! I LOVED THE tatziki sauce the most and ate it was everything (not sure if I am supposed to but it fit soo well!) AND I had another two dishes which we are all of (I forgot what were the names but they were super good!)”

“Fantastic food and great service. The turnaround from ordering to the food arriving was really quick, the beer was ice cold, and everything tasted fresh. I had the hummus to start followed by the chicken gyros, and both were excellent. I'll definitely be back and would highly recommend Jars Meze to anyone visiting Bath.”

“I visited this restaurant last Sunday and the food did not disappoint. I ordered the Kleftiko with a side of Greek salad and it was delicious. The meat was incredibly tender, and the portions were generous. The service was also outstanding. I accidentally left my expensive water bottle at the restaurant and only realised after they had closed, so I slipped a note through the door. Mihai, a member of staff, kindly contacted me the following day and even posted it back to London. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely try more of their dishes if I visit Bath again 😊”
