About Hall & Woodhouse Bath

The bar counter and the features around it are made from old copper brewing equipment tied to Badger Brewery history, and the copper carries on into the clad toilets downstairs. Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the three-floor building itself, with its central winding staircase, a bar fitted with old copper brewing equipment, and a roof terrace one reviewer found lovely in the sun. Drinks draw steady praise: the cocktails, a full-bodied house red, the Bath Helles, and a large choice of IPAs, beers and zero proofs, served by friendly bar staff. Close behind are lighter dishes, including lunchtime sandwiches, a margherita pizza and a very good fish pie. Heavier food divides opinion. One diner found a burger and fries good but nothing special, with small desserts and prices that seemed excessive for the quality. One reviewer notes seagulls prevented eating outside, and another says booking may be needed because it is very popular. Two Sunday lunch reviewers were disappointed. One had extremely tough roast beef and a birthday that went unacknowledged despite being mentioned on the booking. The other described a dry plate, only the tiniest bit of gravy, and drinks arriving after the food.

“Mediocre experience for a birthday which went without any acknowledgement even though mentioned on the booking. Roast beef was extremely tough to cut and chew. Was too later to mention at the time as it too a while to arrive. Not allowed to eat outside due to seagulls. Netting to allow this would be good. Gravy boats were actually placed on plate in the gravy on the plate! Not much veg Overall a lack lustre meal wouldn’t recommend.”

“We popped in for cocktails on a rather damp day and were warmly welcomed by the staff, though our first impression was the lovely atmosphere itself, with the central winding staircase leading to the upper floor and roof terrace. Everything felt well presented and thoughtfully arranged, with little corners where one can sit, relax, and get away from the rush and noise of a busy city. It really is something to behold. Particularly fascinating was the bar area itself, with the counter and surrounding features crafted from old copper brewing equipment connected to the history of the Badger Brewery, giving the place a distinctive character and a real sense of heritage. This review relates only to drinks, but we thoroughly enjoyed the quality of everything we had. The cocktails were excellent, and I also had the house red wine, which was full-bodied and very pleasant. It is also worth noting that they run events and offers from time to time for food and drink. We are certain to return, as it is a wonderful space with a warm atmosphere and the rare feeling that, even in the midst of a busy city, one can quietly step away from it all for an hour or two. Next time, we shall come for both food and drinks. Warm Regards, Lyndon S.”

“We were visiting Bath to meet up with relatives from Australia. Hall and Woodhouse Bath was very welcoming, the staff were attentive and the service was impeccable. We arrived for coffee and were seated in a more intimate space at the front of the building. We then moved on to lunch in the dining area which is bright and airy and not at all noisy. The food was all delicious and served at just the right pace giving us plenty of time to chat. There was a gluten free/ food allergy menu for one of our party and good selection of beers to choose from. All in all am excellent place.”

“This place was amazing and has a huge variety of IPA and beers and zero proofs the staff is very friendly and I personally love the margherita pizza and the starters are great 3 story restaurant with a terrace I will definitely come back.”
