About The Black Pug
The Black Pug is a pub at 69 Coten End in Warwick, with origins in the 16th century and a former name of The Millwright Arms. The pub has a large beer garden with a marquee over the main part and tables at the back among wildflowers. An outside bar and a garden bar serve drinks there, and some areas offer cover while others sit in full sun. The menu includes nachos and a Sunday roast at lunch, and a wine selection is available alongside the drinks. Large parties of eight, ten or more are given a private room. The pub is open daily, and food on bank holidays is for booked tables only.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the Sunday roast, described as delicious and great, with a good wine selection and a yummy pudding alongside. Close behind is the large beer garden with its outside bar, which reviewers describe as lovely, with hidden tables in the wild flowers, a marquee for the sociable, and areas for cover or full sun. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and one parent notes a server made sure their son had colouring in. Larger groups of 8 to 10 mention being given a private room. The caveats are real: one reviewer describes a bank holiday visit where much of the menu was unavailable, the group was told to order on one tab, and the nachos arrived as stale, bending shop bought crisps with a thin drizzle of salsa and sour cream and no guacamole. They sent them back and asked for them to be taken off the bill. Others mention slow service at times, food not arriving all at once, and music a tad loud.

“I've been to The Black Pug multiple times, and it's always a fantastic experience. I even caught one of the World Cup matches there, and the atmosphere was brilliant! Every visit, Ruby has been absolutely great – super friendly and attentive. Chloe has also looked after us on several occasions with outstanding service. The pub itself is really welcoming with a large beer garden, and the drinks are always top-notch. Highly recommend checking it out!”

“I came here yesterday as a group of 8 to celebrate a friends birthday, we had booked a table for food several days before. The pub was of course busy due to it being a very sunny bank holiday and I appreciate staff may have been unprepared for the influx of people however this is no excuse for our very poor experience. When we went to the bar to order food the staff member immediately barked at us ‘the food is only for booked tables’ this was fine as we had of course booked. We were then informed that a considerable amount on the menu was unavailable. We eventually went up the order and were told we had to order as one tab because staff had told the kitchen only one further food ticket would be coming and so we were the last order. This was rather inconvenient for us as we wanted to pay separately and I felt like was just pure laziness from the staff. We also then witnessed multiple other people be able to order food. The food then came, I have been to the Pug multiple times for their nachos, they are usually homemade corn tortillas with generous amounts of toppings. Instead what I and another friend received was shop bought crisps with a pathetic drizzle of salsa and sour cream - no guacamole. The crisps were actually bending they were that stale… we of course sent the food back and asked for it to be taken off the bill. This was just the icing on the cake from a very disappointing visit. I have attached a picture of this absolutely diabolical excuse for nachos so it can be compared to previous pictures of what we expected to receive.”
