About The Thomas Lloyd

The Thomas Lloyd is a pub in Warwick at 3-7 Market Pl, on the edge of the market square. The kitchen serves breakfast and brunch, and the food menu puts curry dishes like jalfrezi and beef madras alongside a Margarita pizza. That gives the pub a morning menu and a curry menu under one roof. Real ale and pale ale feature on the drinks selection. The pub runs on a walk-in basis. It is also laptop-friendly, so it works for anyone who wants to get some work done.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often come for low-priced drinks, especially real ale, with the pale ale selection and Shipyard Pale Ale singled out and a pint of Bud Light also called cheap. Food sits close behind: a jalfrezi that one diner wanted a little hotter, a beef madras with a pint, a margarita pizza with a soft drink, and inexpensive breakfasts. Several describe friendly, polite staff, and one says the manager knew his beers and breweries. The complaints come from single reviewers but are specific. One describes a rude server and says both the server and the manager refused to give a name for a complaint. Another reports a filthy disabled toilet with an overflowing bin and urine on the floor, along with difficulty getting a wheelchair between tables, and left without eating. A third notes that one of the two toilet stairwells has no signage. Plenty of outdoor seating on the market square draws praise, and one group describes soaking up the sun over a few cold drinks.

“Went in with intention of having brunch but found it very difficult to navigate around tables with wheelchair. Went to disabled toilet which was up a ramp next to slot machine had to ask person playing to movr so we could get past. Toilet to say the least was filthy. Over flowing bin, urine on floor toilet not been cleaned in a long time by the state of it Did not stop to eat as I was completely put off by this. Don't know if anyone checks toilets as they do in other restaurants hourly . This is definitely a health and safety issue.”

“Spoons are Spoons! Good, reasonably priced real ale and food. My jalfrezi was good (although I would have preferred a little more chilli heat) and the beer was in condition. The manager was friendly and knew about his beers and breweries. Absolutely nothing to complain about and much to be enjoyed.”

“I had an incredibly disappointing experience here due entirely to the attitude of the staff. The member of staff who served me was exceptionally rude, dismissive, and unprofessional from the outset. I’ve genuinely never encountered behaviour like this from someone working in a customer-facing role. When I asked for her first name so I could make a complaint, she refused to provide it. I then spoke to the manager, who also refused to identify the staff member, which was equally disappointing and made the situation feel completely unaccountable. Everyone has bad days, but if you dislike dealing with people to this extent, a customer service role probably isn’t the right fit. There was no attempt to resolve the situation, no apology, and no basic courtesy. I’ve visited many Wetherspoons over the years and have never experienced anything remotely like this. The level of rudeness and lack of professionalism was genuinely shocking.”

“Zero rating on food as we only called in for a few cold ones. That being said the Thomas Lloyd is a classic Wetherspoons , drinks at attractive prices , tidy inside & out and friendly staff 👏 We spent around 3 hrs soaking up the sun and enjoying our drinks. Great location and would certainly visit again. No hesitation in recommending.”

“If you want cheap food and drinks this is the best place to get them. Pint of Bud Light £1.99. Breakfast starting at less than £3. They have outside seating too. This is also the smoking area. Great value for Warwick.”
