  “The Wharf is one of our local pubs so we visit fairly often, usually just for a drink. The recent refurb is lovely and the staff are very attentive. This time we decided to eat and unfortunately were a bit disappointed. We ordered a cheeseburger at £17 and lamb with orzo at £21. The burger came without the cheese initially but that was quickly sorted. However, I’m not sure the burger was handmade as the menu stated and a third of the plate was empty (there were some fries but no salad). The lamb was a well thought out dish but the portion was very small and the lamb overcooked. I didn’t have the heart to complain as the pub was busy and we’d had a pleasant experience but on this evidence, we will stick to beer and crisps in future. Such a shame but the food just didn’t justify the high prices.”

  “We have always drive pass this pub, and said one day we will go in. So glad we did, lovely atmosphere inside welcoming, great service from the team. Food was delicious, nice and fresh, we would recommend the fish + chips, and the cajun …”

  “Menu looked nice but didn't live upto the description when it arrived didn't say prawns were unpeeled only 3 of them 🤔no water bowl to wash hands after peeling them!irish sandwich lacked lots of ham cheese and cabbage very bare 🍟chips were cold we didn't wish to complain ate what we could bar person lovely expensive so unless menu changes and portions are more wont again eat there very disappointed . Surroundings beautifully decorated shame about the food”

  “After a much needed refurb The Wharf is looking good and has retained its local pub character. Friendly staff, good range of beers and a new menu. We had Cajun Calamari, nicely spiced and tender, followed by a decent portion of crispy battered fish and chips and for me a juicy minty lamb steak with orzo.”

  “Great pub with a proper local feel Drinks always spot on and the food is consistently good Staff are friendly and on it even when it’s busy Nice atmosphere whether you’re popping in for one or staying a while Definitely recommend”

  “ZERO out of 10. Zero stars. Got fined £100 for using their car park. Some welcome! Interior smells like a cesspit. Toilets are a cesspit. Cold, stale and so unfriendly i wouldn't even let roadkill inside its doors, as it would probably throw itself in front of a moving train again”

  “Lovely little pub with a great selection of drinks and some lovely food. We were staying up the road at the Premier Inn and had a short drive down for food. They had a good selection on the menu for lunch or even main meals.”

  “Highly recommend this pub for food & drink. Visited with my friend for his birthday on 11th August. Very friendly, efficient staff. Clean, spacious pub with nooks & cranny sitting areas. Lovely beer garden with bouncy castle for kids. Dog friendly. Even treats & water bowls for them. Well run pub serving wide selection of delicious food & drinks. Lovely relaxed atmosphere whether you just want a drink or food or both. Brought my friend's dessert out with a candle lit in it for his birthday, which was a lovely treat. He thought it was for another table. Keep up the great service, Ryan, Rachel & team. Thanks a million.”

  “Good beer, attentive service but just better than average food. I’ll explain. The previous night we ate at an expensive pub a few miles down the canal. I felt it under-delivered the pub vibe and over-delivered slightly poncy food at what we felt were expensive prices. At the Wharf Tavern we got decent food in a nice pub atmosphere at prices nearly as expensive as the place from the previous night. Did we get better value from the poncy place or the Wharf? Hard to tell. Would we go back to the Wharf? Probably, yes. Would we go back to the poncy place? For a treat, maybe. There’s the difference. Without meaning it as an insult, The Wharf is a Common or Garden variety British pub with honest beer and food even if just a little expensive than we hoped. So on balance it was perfectly fine and we had a decent meal.”
