About Hillfield Farm - Dining & Carvery
Hillfield Farm - Dining & Carvery is a carvery pub in the Shirley area of Solihull, on Cranbrook Way. It serves a Sunday roast seven days a week, with carved meats cut by a chef at the carvery counter and a wide selection of vegetables alongside. The carvery runs without tickets. Guests order with the waiting staff, then go up to the counter and give their table number. Gluten-free gravy is available there on request. The team brings table service and clears plates, while drinks are ordered at the bar. Mornings bring an all-you-can-eat breakfast, and the menu includes cakes for dessert. A separate play area gives small children and their families a space of their own.

Customer Review Summary
The carvery is what reviewers return to, praising tender, perfectly cooked meats and a wide choice of vegetables, with several calling it among the best they have had. The carvery staff are repeatedly described as friendly and chatty while serving, and bar and table staff are called quick and helpful even when the pub is busy, including with a large party. Huge cakes come up close behind, and two reviewers say to save room for one. Diners also mention the relaxed atmosphere, tables kept clean with plates cleared promptly, and a ticketless system where they order with a server and give their table number at the carvery. The play area for small children is welcomed by families, though one reviewer saw several children running around the tables before staff asked them to stop. One diner's food issue was rectified immediately, and another reports that a carvery server arranged gluten-free gravy for their daughter.

“One of the nicest carveries we have had recently. The meat was tender and there was a good selection of vegetables. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Kate, Luke and John. Would definitely go again. I have never seen such huge cakes so save some room for one. The only negative thing I will say is it is child friendly with a play area which is fine but at one point there were at least 3 children running around the tables and it took a little while before the staff asked them to stop.”

“We had a really good experience at Hill Farm Carvery. The carvery was tasty, with a good selection of food, and the service was quick and efficient. The ticketless system worked really well. Rather than having to collect tickets or wait around, you simply order with your waiter or waitress and then head up to the carvery when you’re ready, giving the carvery staff your table number. It made the whole process feel much smoother and more relaxed. A great bonus during the summer holidays is that children can eat for free during the week, with two children eating free per paying adult, and they also receive free ice cream afterwards. This is a fantastic offer for families and makes eating out much more affordable. Overall, a lovely family-friendly carvery with good food, efficient service and great value, especially for families with children. We would definitely return.”

“Visited with my Dad last week, greeted with a big smile and welcoming chat from John behind the bar. Great service, John offers to bring your drinks to the table if they're in any way delayed (new barrel etc.) and is genuinely pleased to see you. Fantastic to see Brooke back after her travels, a lovely girl with smile to match. Always very helpful and nothing is too much trouble, and very genuine with it. Things like this make a difference and encourage you to revisit. The carvery was wonderful, again, Fiaz certainly knows what he's doing in this department and puts on perfectly cooked meats. Always friendly and chatty while he's serving too. I've been to some carvery's where the chefs and servers are a bit surly, but not here with Fiaz. A nice ambiance in the place and it's always kept clean and tidy (nod to Brooke!) with empty plates promptly cleared away. The air con makes it very pleasant in the recent hot weather. There is a separate area for small children with their families, which is a godsend, and easy parking. Good disabled access and a line of blue badge parking at the front. Some good outdoor tables and chairs for those who want to sit outside.”

“Visited here on Tuesday 2nd. Wanted to just say what a lovely young lad they have working on the carving deck. Impeccable manners, friendly face and a warm welcome. An asset to any business. Sorry we didn’t get his name but he maybe knew as we’d never seen him before. Also found lots of newer staff very friendly and polite. We had a male server collect the plates and what a lovely lad he was too. Polite, friendly and happy to be there.”
