About The Bell, Tanworth-in-Arden
The Bell is an old pub with rooms on The Grn in Tanworth-in-Arden, Solihull, with low ceilings, winding passages to the bedrooms and an open fire. The bed-and-breakfast rooms overlook the village green and the church opposite, and the pub is now under new ownership. The menu lists seven dishes, including Battered Fish Goujons, Chips & Peas, Sausage, Mash & Baked Beans and a Wild Berry Eton Mess, so the kitchen covers pub classics through to dessert. Dogs are welcome inside, which suits guests travelling with a pet. Overnight guests also get a cooked breakfast with a vegetarian option, along with cereals and spreads.

Customer Review Summary
Overnight guests most often single out the cooked breakfast, with fried and scrambled eggs made as requested and a vegetarian version that two reviewers also praise. Close behind are the pub meals: pork belly with croquettes, a full chicken and leek pie with chips, gravy and peas, fish and chips, and a veggie burger. One diner calls it proper homecooked pub grub served piping hot. Rooms are described as cosy and quiet, one as massive, and staff are repeatedly called friendly and quick to act on requests. The complaints are specific. One guest reported broken WiFi, awful mobile signal, no soaps for the bath and a single towel hook. One lunch visit sent sandwiches back to the kitchen, including a fish finger sandwich that was undercooked on stale, dry bread, and the sausage and mash had lumpy, undercooked potato. One diner found the church bell ringing loud, though it faded into the background. A group back from a dog walk found a warming open fire and dog friendly staff.

“Disappointing visit today, previous visits were much better. Ordered from the sandwich menu & children's menu. Sandwiches were returned to the kitchen, one for not following request of meat only, fish finger sandwich undercooked & stale/dry bread. Mash for tge sausage & mash was lumpy, tge potatoes had not been cooked through before mashing. Front of house staff were polite & friendly, lovely setting. Let down today by inattentive kitchen staff.”

“Set in a beautiful English village location. Walked in and was amazed how big it was. Staff were all great . Now the food . It was what ive been looking for for a long time. PROPER homecooked pub grub.Plates came out piping hot. I knew it was going to be good. Chips twice as big as your thumb crunchy on outside and soft in middle.A proper full pie stacked with chicken and leek a small pot of gravy and peas. Delicious Rasberry bakewell with chantily cream again warmed. The best food I have eaten in a very long time. All of us all thought the same Excellent. Thankyou.”

“Myself and my daughter stopped off here on a roadtrip from Lake Garda to Ireland. It was excellent. The pub itself was lovely, the room was great and the village was picturesque. I didn't get the owners name but she was so nice. She showed us to our room and while we settled in she sorted a table for dinner. The food really hit the spot. Locals were outside drinking and chatting and laughing, a real mix of ages and it was lovely to see This place just happened to be on our route but I would go out of my way to stay here again.”

“Stayed here for a long weekend, it's an old rustic pub, so expect low ceilings and winding passages on the way to the rooms. Our room was massive, but others look a lot smaller. The rooms were pretty nice and mostly clean. We only ate breakfast there, cooked breakfast was good, they had a small choice of cereals and spreads too. car parking is included for guests. 25 min drive (ish) to the NEC. The most annoying issue was that their WiFi is broken and the mobile signal is awful. Some other minor cleanliness issues + some minor annoyances (no soaps etc for bath, only one towel hook in bathroom)”

“We recently met up with friends for a Christmassy dog walk 9 adults (mostly) and 3 dogs 2 reindeers and a Santa to be precise… after a lovely fresh brisk and jolly walk up through Umberslade wood towards the manor we returned to The Bell at Tanworth in Arden. I preordered food and agreed a festive set menu with Tara whose customer Service was excellent. What great value for money and excellent food roast potatoes a great veggie option and plenty of pigs in blankets for my meat eating pals… would recommend this pub with its warming open fire and super dog friendly staff highly enough! Treat yourself and pop in!!”
