About The Woodman's Rest
The Woodman's Rest is an Ember Inn pub on Union Rd in Solihull, open daily. A quiz runs every Wednesday, so the weekly calendar has a set event to plan around. The kitchen serves an afternoon menu of starters, mains and desserts, with fish and chips, pork belly and a mixed grill among the dishes. A set menu runs Monday to Friday, except on bank holidays. At the bar, guest beers sit alongside Guinness. Tables can be booked, and a tandoori chicken skewer on flat bread rounds out the food.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise food that arrives quickly and piping hot, with the pork belly, fish and chips, tandoori chicken skewer on flat bread, bangers and mash and a double mixed grill all named. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly and helpful. One server spotted and fixed an order mistake before the family had noticed, and another reviewer thanked the team for their empathy during a wake. Reviewers also mention the good atmosphere, a clean pub, straightforward table bookings, a good selection of guest beers and a Guinness alongside the grill. The main complaint comes from one Sunday evening visit. Falafel burgers were unavailable for two vegetarian diners, who disliked the halloumi and veg wellington left to them, and a "posh fish and chips" arrived with only scales inside and barely a spoonful of mushy peas. Another group was not told the weekday set menu did not run on a bank holiday, but the manager was understanding and sorted it to their satisfaction.

“Hi, We went here on a bank holiday Monday and when ordering our food we were not informed that the Monday to Friday, "Fixed Price Set Menu" was not in operation. When we noticed this and brought it to the managers attention he was extremely understanding and sorted everything out to our satisfaction. The food was excellent and we will definitely go back. “I cannot thank the staff enough for the service, quality of food and empathy shown yesterday when we visited the pub to attend a wake. So impressed and wouldn't hesitate to go back if the needed arose again. Thank you”

“Had dinner there last night with 2 friends. They had fish & chips and I had the pork belly. All 3 meals were served in good time and all 3 were piping hot, well presented and very tasty. We have a meal here once a month and have never been disappointed. The pub was very busy, normal on a Thursday which is our regular drinking night. We would recommend this pub highly and without hesitation as a place to go for friends and families to go for an enjoyable night out.”
