About The Swan Inn & Bistro
The Swan Inn & Bistro is a pub on High St S in Olney, housed in a stone-built inn dating to 1793 with rustic features in its rooms. Cask ales include Great Oakley Wagtail and Phipps IPA, and the kitchen serves casual meals alongside a monthly specials menu. A steak night pairs rump steak with chips, mushrooms, tomatoes and a glass of red wine. The old building also includes a hotel. Big groups and parties with children are accommodated, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers come for the food, praising dinners and a Sunday lunch where starters, mains and desserts came in generous portions. A Wednesday steak night of rump steak, chips, mushrooms and tomatoes is singled out as great value. Friendly staff come up close behind, including for a party of ten with young children and a birthday group whose menu changes and late arrivals were handled patiently. The back garden and outdoor area are also liked, and dog owners describe a welcome with water provided. Lovely mocktails and cosy rooms get a mention too. One diner was disappointed, describing a greasy burger with a sodden bun, food put on the table without a word, no cutlery until they went to find someone, and a meal that felt expensive for what it was. Another found the meal not bad but had eaten better, though the atmosphere was good. One ale drinker praised the Great Oakley Wagtail and Phipps IPA, and a server who said the barrel might need changing rather than pouring a cloudy pint.

“We went for a early evening meal on a Friday night. It wasnt very busy but the service wasnt great. When they brought the food out, it was dumped on the table, not a word said. We had no cutlery and werent asked if we wanted sauces etc. We had to find someone to get cutlery. The food itself was disappointing. I had a burger that was so greasy it was dripping all over the place and the bun was sodden. It was expensive for what it was. Shame, as the outside area and location are nice.”

“Absolutely superb meal. We were a party of ten, including four children under-10. Food was perfect, amazing, delicious across all starters, mains and desserts. Portions were generous, to say the least. Service was efficient, friendly and patient. The complimentary water (inc. sparkling) is a nice touch. Thoroughly recommend; they made our special occasion extra special.”
