About Yeoman Of England
Yeoman Of England is a large village pub in Northampton, on High St, with a pool table, TVs for sport, a garden and a conservatory seating area. An events schedule runs on most nights of the week, which gives regulars and groups a reason to visit beyond mealtimes. The kitchen serves roast dinners with a selection of vegetables and meats, alongside fish and chips and chicken wings. The wine list includes a Petit Chablis from France and a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. Orders go through the counter or an app, and food usually comes after a wait at busy times. A private dining room is available for groups, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Roast dinners are the draw most reviewers raise, with the Sunday roast praised for healthy portions and a nice selection of vegetables and meats. Close behind are the chicken wings, which one family reportedly battled over, and several starters described as delicious. Families describe a welcome with children, a great kids menu and kids playing in the garden, while the conservatory, the big space that doesn't feel crowded and the friendly staff come up repeatedly. A few also mention the beer selection, a pool table, sports on the TVs and a full events schedule. The complaints concern food service on busy days. One reviewer describes a very long wait, far past the app's estimate, for a lasagna that seemed to have sat under a heat lamp, along with dirty garden tables and bin bags blowing around. Another received overcooked, dry, cold fish and chips and a halloumi starter missing its chilli jam, and says the server simply shrugged when told.

“this is second time i had a difficult time here. first time we ordered food and waited nearly two hours for it, we got told there was two “big table” reservations in front of us, where one had 6 people and another had 8. we should of been told of this extremely long waiting time as we ordered by the counter. Second time it was even worse, we ordered through the app and it stated 20 min waiting time, i didnt say anything about it until it became one hour. the lady at the counter made it seem like it was my fault because she “came out with it three times”. we were sat the whole time in the garden. unfortunately i didnt see any information that the garden is out of bounds if you want to eat. The person who sat at our table before us took the number pot from downstairs, and the lady at the counter sated clearly that you can ONLY EAT DOWNSTAIRS. this isnt customer service, if the employee doesnt say the waiting time on food, or looks for the customer if they cant find the food its being delivered to. i could tell my lasagna was under the heat lamp i overheard there was only one chef on a friday afternoon, where its one of busiest days there should be more staff who are willing to deliver proper customer service. ps the tables are dirty and bin bags are flying around in the garden”

“Beer was great, as was the atmosphere. Then we ate. Son had halloumi with chilli jam, only they had no chilli jam, my garlic mushrooms were good. I had fish and chips for main. Fish was overcooked, dry and cold. Accompanied by the smallest portion of mushy peas I’ve ever had, also cold. Chips were fine, although I got a small portion. Some friends who ate just after is ordered fish and chips and theirs were 150% better. Not sure what the chef had against me! Server asked me if everything was ok, I said no, told him the fish was overcooked, dry and cold. He just shrugged his shoulders. Many other places to eat in Northampton would suggest you use them, eat out the bins, and finally consider the Yeoman. To what it used to be, it’s gone completely downhill.”

“Visited ‘The Yeoman of England’ on the evening of the 11th April 2026. Whilst the Pub was extremely busy we found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming. We ordered our food and whilst there was some delay in receiving (which we really expected and accepted due to it being so busy), the food was excellent, plentiful and very good value for the money. There was a good selection of beers, lagers, wines, spirits, and coffees. I cannot complete this review without a big ‘shoutout’ to the young lady Sophie who attended to us throughout. Sophie was so cheerful and accommodating that this made our night complete. Sophie is a credit to the company. We will most definitely return and certainly recommend to friends and family. Keep up the good work!”

“service was very good and attentive. Got drinks straight away and seated in the lovely conservatory. Kids were able to play outside and we were made to feel very welcome with them inside also. Great kids menu and fast food service. The adults ate roast dinners and side and they were very nice! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
