Customer Review Summary

Fish and chips leads the praise, with one diner calling the haddock super fresh and not from frozen, and a visitor on a month-long trip ranking it the best of their whole stay. Close behind are a sea bream, a sirloin steak, and a roast dinner called decent and tasty, plus a Christmas menu roast lamb with perfectly cooked vegetables. Drinkers mention a good selection of ales and more thought than the usual mainstream lagers, and one describes the garden as a good size with large ashtrays. Reviewers repeatedly call the staff welcoming, friendly and funny, including a woman behind the bar described as very kind. The main complaint comes from one reviewer who found a male bar attendant rude, sarcastic about the drink ordered and belittling in front of family and other customers, a sharp contrast with the friendly bar attendant met on an earlier visit. At one wedding reception serving curries and a buffet, lots of guests commented on how good the day was.

“Great atmosphere and good choice of drinks. Unlike many pubs that just have the usual mainstream lagers, they have put thought into what they have. Great to see Murphy's on tap, so I always have that!”

“Visited last week as have family that live close by the female bar attendant was friendly, funny non judgemental and you could engage in conversation with, sadly I attended again at the weekend and the male bar attendant was the opposite, he was rude , The drink that I ordered he thought was weird and was sarcastic he also tried to belittle infront of my family and other customers. Bearing in mind he did not know me at all. His job is to serve me my drink end off. I was not impressed at all but I was the bigger person by not responding to his poor customer service, which is a shame as this is a nice family local public house”

“Came in for a quick pint, and left with a full belly! Food was incredible paired with great ambiance. I had their Sirloin steak, and in all honesty, it was by fair the best steak dinner I’d had. If you’re looking for a country pub, paired with great beer and grub, this is the place.”

“lovely place, the woman was very funny and very kind. It’s great that the pool table takes card payments, and the garden is a good size with large ashtrays. hoping i can come again sometime!”
