Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers come back to the fish and chips, praising the white haddock, the crisp batter that is not oily, and the triple cooked chips with smoked sea salt. Close behind are the onglet steak with Guinness butter jus and the ham croquettes, with a chicken burger and a Serrano burrata pizza also mentioned. Drinkers note more than twenty beers on draught, and one reviewer calls the beer garden the best they have seen. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly. The function room earns praise for a 30th birthday with well-timed food and Prosecco poured as guests arrived, and the upstairs room hosts a Wednesday open mic with an upright piano. The nachos draw the sharpest complaint: one reviewer got them cold, with toppings from a squeeze bottle, and another scored them lower than the rest of the meal. One side salad arrived with no dressing. Sports viewers say the pub gets loud, and one found the speakers switched to music, so staff had to be asked about the tennis commentary.

“We were looked after by an amazing waiter called “Emi!” (Hope the spelling is correct) we had nachos 3/5 onglette steak and guinness butter jus was off the chart 5/5 shame about the side salad no dressing but I rectified that with the chilli oil dressing which took it to a level I was happy with so no problem!!! My friends had the chicken burger 4.5/5 and a Serrano burrata pizza 3.75/5. Overall I’m giving 5/5 as the service was so good Thankyou Ami(found out the spelling now!) atmosphere and seating was top notch especially as Les blues were winning and my friends were from Francais!!! ❤️”

“Just wanted to say thanks again for having me to host my 30th in the function room on Saturday. Jessica was incredibly mega helpful in the months leading up, very proactive and answered my many many questions. Loved that you shared so many options for food, drinks packages and live music. On the night Ben couldn’t have been more attentive, pouring Prosecco for guests right as they entered the room what an absolute star! The organisation of food being brought in was seamless and right on time and very helpful for guests with allergies. I loved the decor, loved the vibe, loved that downstairs was open til 2 with live music on the night! Had such a blast! 10/10 would party here again!”

“Just swung by The Distillers for lunch, and was blown away by a fantastic food on offer. I chose the fish and chips because this tends to be 'bland but safe' in a unfamiliar pub. But bland it wasn't. The haddock was beautifully white. The batter was so crisp and not oily. The chips were plentyful and triple cooked to perfection. Even small details like the smoked sea salt really lifted this dish above expectations. At £19.95 that's 20% cheaper than my local takeaway. I will certainly be be back.Maybe to try the Guinness glazed steak...mmmmm”
