Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast draws the most mentions, with diners describing a beef roast and generous portions, and fish and chips close behind. Reviewers call the staff friendly and the service quick, and one mentions a bar manager who passed on sightseeing tips. Football on the big TVs brings a buzzing crowd, though another regular finds the pub comparatively quiet at lunchtime, and one diner found it child friendly. The complaints are specific. A wheelchair user reports that the accessible toilet is left unlocked for everyone, with a broken seat and urine on the floor on a recent Sunday evening, and says they have had to raise it repeatedly. Another reviewer describes being told roasts are no longer served, finding a menu different from the online one, being shown a table too small for a party of six, and meeting high chairs with food stuck to them. A couple of reviewers praise the rear courtyard garden, with its shelter and heaters for year round drinks.

“I usually come to this place for a regular English breakfast during lunch time. Most of the customers at that time are seniors. Staff are in general very friendly ( it used to have a few very impolite staff but fortunately they are all gone). Although the sports channels of the TVs are always being shown, the pub is comparatively quiet especially inside, so it is very suitable to enjoy one’s own breaks or to have good chats between friends.”

“If i could give no stars i would. On arrival the 2 bar staff didnt have a clue what they was doing. I had requested table of 6 with high chair. They showed us to small square table with 4 armchairs.. the barmaid was very unhelpful and couldn't help as with the situation. And seemed completely clueless when I asked how was we all going to fit round that sm table. We was finally moved to another table but still not enough seats and the high chairs were all filthy with food stuck to them. After finally settling down we looked over menu. It was completely different to the one online. We went up to order we asked for Sunday roast which was advertised on website to be told by barmaid they dont serve roasts any more. We then got our belongings and left. The Goose use to be a lovely well run pub. Extremely disappointed.”
