About The Fulham Mitre

The Fulham Mitre is a pub at 81 Dawes Rd in London, split into several separate eating areas. A front snug has a log burner, a dining area sits in the middle, and a conservatory runs along the back, so groups and smaller parties each have their own space. The food menu includes fish and chips and Sunday roasts, with roast beef among them. Cask ales are on tap alongside bottled beers. Football is shown on large TV monitors, and Six Nations rugby is on the screens too. Dogs are welcome. Payment is by card only, and the pub does not accept cash.

Customer Review Summary

Sunday roast beef is the draw most reviewers return to, with one calling the beef portion huge and exceptional and another finding it rarer than they like but tasty. Close behind are the scotch egg, one reviewer's pick for a personal top five, and a chicken pie with leek, tarragon and kale, plus an apple and blueberry crumble. Others mention fish and chips, nachos and a pint of Guinness. Reviewers describe friendly, welcoming staff and a lovely beer garden, and one used it to celebrate after a wedding ceremony. The main complaints concern value and consistency. One diner waited around 15 minutes and found the table not ready despite a booking, as staff were stretched by large bookings, and called the steak and chips small for the price. Another found the belly pork jelly-like inside, with cold veg and a cold Yorkshire pudding, and no one asked why the plate was left unfinished. A third called the roast a bit expensive. One reviewer closes by noting the pub took no cash.

“We chose to use The Mitre to celebrate after our legal wedding ceremony and could not be happier. They made the garden area feel so special, were attentive and helped us celebrate in a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend for special events!”

“Visited the Mitre when we were staying in Fulham during Wimbledon fortnight and the World Cup 26. You can tell immediately that it's a good pub as soon as you walk in the door. Very helpful bar staff, great range of beers and a warm feel about the place. The beer garden is amazing, surprising about of room in a lovely green space, football showing on two large Tv monitors, just a great vibe. We ate two meals there over the weekend fish and chips for me on our first visit and then belly pork on Sunday evening. I wasn't impressed with the belly pork. It had been cooked in a "roll" from the state of the meat. The outer "crackling" was crisp however the pork meat on the inside was jelly like and not firm and chewy. Veg was cold and the Yorkshire pudding was cold. We were eating at the end of the night so that could be a factor but we didn't get the "is everything alright with your meal?" or any questions to why most of my meal was still on my plate when they collected it. My dining companions mostly enjoyed their meals and I didn't pursue it at the time as I didn't want to spoil the occasion. I suppose most chefs have an off day?”

“We were disappointed with our recent visit. On arrival we waited around 15 minutes before being acknowledged and seated. Despite having a booking, our table was not ready which resulted in even more waiting time. The staff were friendly and polite throughout, however it was clear that they were understaffed for the number of large bookings. Unfortunately, the portion size of the steak and chips was also very small considering the price charged. Overall, while the staff did their best, the service and value for money did not meet expectations.”

“Absolutely delicious Sunday pub lunch today - had the roast beef which was exceptional (the portion of beef was also HUGE!). Such friendly staff and the Host/ Manager is truly special. They also have 9 other pubs across West London which are also supposed to be “really cool”! So will be back next Sunday for my local Sunday roast! Will try to remember to take a pic to update this review in future.”

“🚇 Fulham Broadway 🍺 £6.80 Amstel The Mitre is located in the heart of Fulham, not too far from Chelsea FC. The nearest Tube is Fulham Broadway. This pub was built in 1861, when much of the area was being developed. The current building was rebuilt in 1924 by the Swan Brewery in the Brewers’ Tudor style, or Mock Tudor as it’s more commonly known. The Swan brewery was located nearby and closed in 1928; the Fulham Court housing estate now occupies its former site. This is a good-sized, one-bar pub with a traditional feel and contemporary touches. The bar area has three distinct spaces: a cosy snug with a log burner at the front, a dining area in the middle, and a spacious conservatory at the back. The servery is accessible from all three sections. The pub also boasts a large beer garden, which is partially covered and heated. The decor consists of boarded flooring with tiling around the servery, traditional tables and chairs in the dining area, and more contemporary seating in the conservatory. Dark grey walls are adorned with artworks and prints, and there are beautiful leaded windows. The beer selection offers a mix of familiar favourites and cask ales. I opted for an Amstel — my pint was great, price point was above average. The food menu features gastropub classics: fish and chips costs £21.50, and roasts take centre stage on Sundays. I arrived at 6pm on a wet Wednesday evening in February. The pub was fairly busy with a local crowd, and quite a few people were in the covered beer garden. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed, with a convivial feel set to an excellent soundtrack. The service was welcoming and friendly. The pub hosts a Quiz on Tuesdays and shows Six Nations Rugby. Visiting this independent pub was a great experience. Its historic ties to the Swan Brewery, distinctive architecture, and relaxed, welcoming atmosphere make it easy to settle in, while the beer garden is a real bonus. With a solid beer selection and highly praised food, it’s well worth a visit if you’re in the area. 📅 11th February 2026”
