About Half Moon
Half Moon is a pub at Putney Bridge in London, at 93 Lower Richmond Rd., with live music at its centre. A dedicated gig room at the back hosts gigs almost every night, so a visit can start with a pint and end with a band. The room is part of a live music history that goes back to the 60s. On the bar, Youngs Original and Proper Job are among the ales, and the food menu covers pub grub. Between sets, the background music mixes pop, rock, indie and soul. A recent refurb brought new artwork to the building. An upstairs room is set aside for parties and private events, which suits groups. The pub is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return to the Half Moon mainly for its live music, praising the dedicated gig room out the back and a history as a music venue stretching back to the 60s. Gigs are described as intimate, well organised and good-sounding, and one visitor from far away plans to return. Close behind is the service, which reviewers call friendly, welcoming and quick even when busy. The food is described as classic pub grub, solid and satisfying, with one reviewer adding that a tab was allowed. Others mention the choice of drinks at reasonable prices, including proper job and youngs original ales, plus the large beer garden and the upstairs room for parties. A couple note the refurb and new artwork. The one complaint is a single issue with a pint during a busy gig, which was swapped with no quibble. One reviewer found the venue small but well laid out.

“Such a great pub in Putney! The atmosphere was brilliant — really lively, fun and welcoming, and the staff were fantastic throughout. Everyone was friendly, attentive and made us feel really well looked after. The food was delicious too and far exceeded expectations. A great spot for drinks, food and a proper pub atmosphere. Will definitely be back!”

“Great pub for gigs. They have a dedicated room out the back. Airconditioned which was great as it was a really hot day. Band sound was great. They served proper job and youngs original ales. Im sure they served food, but as i didnt eat there i do not feel qualified to comment. Service was pretty good considering it was busy, but I did have an issue with a pint. It was swapped with no quibble though so all forgiven.”

“Fantastic pub and live music venue in the heart of Putney. Great service, the food menu ranges from pub classics to special dishes and it's all delicious. The ambience music is a great mix of pop, rock, indie and soul. The live music venue provides a very intimate experience, and it keeps up the great historical heritage which the pub has as a live music venue since the 60s. All in all, the Half Moon is the best place to relax and enjoy great music. From having a few drinks to a wholesome meal, you can't go wrong here!”

“So pleased to have finally seen a gig at this iconic venue! Friendly staff, great service and a cool atmosphere. Second time seeing The Small Fakers, they certainly didn't disappoint!!”

“Really like the Half Moon — especially since the refurb, it’s looking seriously good. Feels fresh but still keeps that proper pub vibe. Always a good atmosphere, gets lively when there’s music on, and just an easy place to spend a few hours. Drinks selection is solid, staff are sound, and service is quick even when it’s busy. Big shoutout to the upstairs/top floor room as well — such a great space. Perfect for parties or private events, and feels a bit more special without losing the buzz of the pub. Love the new artwork as well!!”
