About The Joiners Arms

The Joiners Arms is a pub on Victoria St in Lincoln, a five-minute walk from the High Street. Real ale is served from handpumps at the bar. The pub supports smaller breweries, so the ales rotate often and new ones turn up regularly. Folk singing nights run roughly once a month, with customers singing live in a traditional style, and sandwiches are set out on plates around the room and on the bar for the singers. Bar billiards is played here, and a fire is lit when it gets cold. Dogs are welcome, and food is limited to bar snacks. A landlord and landlady run the place.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often return to the rotating real ale, praising the golden beer and a bitter from the handpumps, and describing the landlord as someone who changes the ales often and supports smaller breweries. Close behind is the welcome from the landlady, landlord and bar staff, with locals who chat to newcomers. Live singing nights are the next draw, with folk songs sung by customers and visitors invited to join in. Others mention bar billiards, football on screen, a fire when it gets cold, cats to pet, and a dog friendly room. One regular describes feeling safe and understood here over several years. No reviewer raises a complaint. One visitor recalls a sandwich offered from plates dotted around the bar during a song night, set out as a snack for the singers and their supporters.

“Me and some friends were visiting Lincoln for a weekend and found this little gem just off the beaten track. The real ale was great and seemed to be changing all the time. Always a good sign. We ended up coming here for the Friday and The Saturday and were were very well looked after by the landlady and her husband. The locals were really friendly as well. A proper pub. Would recommend if you are ever in Lincoln.”

“I was in June 26 for the very first time in UK on a roadtrip trough England and Wales. Every night another city and sometimes multiple Pubs. There was no single place, I felt more welcomed. The owner was very friendly, I had the chance to get to known to his lovely woman and a every single guest was incredible kind. This evening felt like exactly the reason why I came to UK. The fantastic people of "Hanging Johnny" made my night. Live singing in a traditional style. Whenever I come back even close to Lincoln, I will make sure to visit this place again. Thank you so much for this fantastic heart-warming evening and having me. ❤️”
