Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is what reviewers return to most, with the meat described as perfectly cooked, plenty of veg and gravy, and one diner calling it far from the usual dried-out pub version. Close behind are the pork tomahawk with crispy potato and apple gel, the beef and Cote Hill blue pie with a proper crust all round, and a cheeseburger one reviewer calls the best they have eaten. Small plates draw praise too, with the sardines singled out. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful, and several mention dogs being welcomed with a water bowl. The wine selection and dairy free accommodations also earn credit. The caveat comes from one detailed visit: a wait of almost an hour for mains, undercooked soggy fries, a leek and potato pie with burnt pastry edges, and a buffalo chicken sandwich served in a burger bun. That diner also found it rude to be told the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes, not long after declining dessert. Another notes drinks felt pricey for Lincoln. Several suggest booking ahead, and one reviewer's mother received a birthday card.

“Wow! Came here with friends who live locally (we're from Scotland). They'd been keen on trying this place and hadn't been so we came last minute and I'm so glad we changed our plans for it! Food was incredible. And I'm fussy with a roast. So often the gravy is Bisto blah, dried out meat, and hard roasties. This was anything but. Food was delicious! Great options for kids and also catered to our dairy free requests and changes. Great wine selection - again so many "pub-esk" restaurants have very basic poor quality wines and the wine quality doesn't match the quality of the food! But not here!! Absolutely faultless! A great all rounder for a family dinner ❤️ Thanks so much team, we had a wonderful visit with you guys 🥰”

“We have been a few times before and have always enjoyed our visit. So we decide to bring our son and two of his friends visiting from Belgium. However, we came away a bit disappointed this time. The food wasn’t up to it’s usual standard. The small plates were very good, we had five different ones and they were delicious, I loved the sardines. We had to wait almost an hour for the main to arrive and when they did the fries were undercooked and soggy, the pastry of the leek and potato pie was quite burnt around the edges. I ordered the spicy buffalo glazed chicken sandwich and it arrived in a burger bun, which I don’t consider to be a sandwich. It’s a burger! Afterwards we were asked whether we wanted dessert and we declined. We sat chatting and enjoying the bottle of wine we’d ordered. Literally 10 minutes later we were informed that they were closing in 15 minutes. I found this quite rude, if we’d ordered dessert they wouldn’t have been able to close that soon. It wasn’t even 10pm. We just wanted to finish our drink without rushing. A shame really, because the staff serving us were really friendly and helpful.”

“The staff were super friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. It's not right in the centre of town, but it's only a short walk away, so it's still very convenient. Drinks were a little on the pricey side for Lincoln—£18 for a double gin and a pint of stout—but the atmosphere made up for it. We sat in the beer garden, which had a really cool vibe and a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be coming back to try the food!”
