About The Cardinal's Hat
The Cardinal's Hat is a pub at 268 High St in Lincoln, on a stretch of the High Street that runs up a hill. Its drinks menu is styled like an old-fashioned newspaper and sets out a large range of real ale hand pumps, with separate cider pumps and keg beers and lagers alongside. Inside, a snug room and individual drinking lounges provide seating, and an upstairs room holds plenty of tables and chairs. The pub serves no food.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the beer, praising a wide range of hand pumps, a separate run of ciders, and plenty of keg beers and lagers. One calls a Brew York pint the best of the year, and others describe a Scottish cider aged in whisky barrels as lush, a local beer as lovely and a lager as sublime. Close behind is the building itself: the drinks menu styled as a newspaper, the upstairs rooms with leather Chesterfield sofas, armchairs and board games, plus a snug and a small outside area out back. Friendly staff and customers come up repeatedly, with several noting people happily make room when it gets busy. The main complaint is a single detailed one: a reviewer who ordered two pints of one drink and one of another was served the wrong combination, was told the mistake was theirs and would not be changed, then had the card machine pushed toward them with no thanks. One also found a pint of cider pricey. Several note there is no food, and one says customers were allowed to bring in pizza from a nearby restaurant.

“Visited here as was in the area for a festival. It is located on the hain high street and is a typical boozer. Nice selection of ales on and it has a fair size upstairs area. There is also a small outside area upstairs out back (venue is on hill). Its a nice quiet venue with friendly staff.”

“Asked for 2 pints of one thing and 1 of another, served wrong combination, when we tried to correct we were told we were wrong and that it wouldn't be changed. When we paid we just had the card machine shoved towards us and walked away, no thankyou, found the server extremely rude.”

“Excellent pub on the High Street. Enjoyed an Acorn St George £5.20, 230 THB. In absolutely perfect condition. Friendly customers and staff, a welcome stop walking downhill after exploring the steep hill area. There's no food available but customers were allowed to bring in pizza from a nearby restaurant.”

“Really enjoyed this pub..the drinks menu is in a newspaper style..service and staff/customers so friendly and welcoming. The lager I tried..was sublime. (Didn't have food)”

“A lovely old pub. People talk to you, the service is great, the bar staff is knowledgeable about drinks, it's clean with top toilets. I went there to see a talk on historic unsolved murders in Lincoln. I drank Scottish cider (aged in whisky barrels) and it was lush.. but it did cost £6.60 a pint!!!”
