Customer Review Summary
The caveats are specific. One reviewer found the steak pie full of gristle, with a watery gravy that didn't match the bone marrow gravy advertised, plus slow service, indifferent bar staff and gents toilets out of order. Another found the yorkshire pudding overly crispy and the roast potatoes slightly over done. Busy periods bring a line to order, and one diner's roast arrived missing items before being quickly put right.

“Fantastic pork roast, really enjoyed it. They were very busy but wait wasn't ridiculous and though my plate was missing items they quickly remedied. Fussy daughter said the chips were the best she'd ever had. Staff lovely too. Marked down slightly due to overly crispy in places yorkshire pudding, and slightly over roast potatoes. Though this is personal preference and not a slur on the chef. Would 100% recommend.”

“What is it about Lincoln and good food! Absolutely fantastic, tasty Sunday dinner, I had the veggie option (but roast, my good lady the lamb shank. Both dishes well cooked and beautifully presented, attentive staff, great atmosphere, highly recommend.”

“Recently came here with my family and had a great time. We also brought the dog and they were very accommodating for us and even gave him a water bowl while we were enjoying our meal. The food was fantastic and so was the service.”

“Brilliant Sunday roast dinner and friendly staff. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy.”

“I called into this 196 year old pub a few days ago whilst staying on my boat in the Brayford Pool. I’ve been in this pub back in the 1970’s when it earned the nickname of the blood tub because of the frequent drunken brawls that broke out. It is now a much more reputable establishment which offers a really nice eating and drinking experience within its historic charm. The service was excellent and as a solo traveller I felt comfortable in there. I had the steak and ale pie which was beautifully presented and equally tasty. The pint of Landlords bitter went down a treat. There is plenty of outdoor seating if you want to sit by the water and watch the world go by. Thanks guy for your hospitality.”

Highlights
“The Royal William IV restaurant is noted for its warm, cozy atmosphere, though it can become crowded at times. Many travelers praise the varied menu featuring fresh, tasty dishes and generous portions, though some find portion sizes inconsistent. Value is generally considered good, but desserts and Sunday roasts sometimes fall short. Wait times can be lengthy during peak periods, yet pre-booking often results in prompt service. Its scenic location by the Brayford Pool is popular, with friendly and accommodating service frequently highlighted.”
