About The Strait and Narrow
The Strait and Narrow is a pub at 29-31 The Strait in Lincoln, with a phone on every table and one more inside the grandfather clock. The phones connect through The Strait Exchange, an internal landline network, so a table can ring another table, including one in the other room. The drinks list covers beers, spirits, cocktails and shots, with Irish beer among the pours. The cocktail menu is styled like Grand Theft Auto artwork and advertises an Infinity Shot. Live bands play here, with a DJ filling the gaps between sets. The bar team can make drink recommendations and answer questions about allergens.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the drinks, especially the cocktails, with the selection of beers and shots close behind. One describes the "Infinity Shot" as the real star of a massive cocktail and shot range, and others point to the wide choice of spirits and beers, plus Irish beer. Several call the bar staff friendly and knowledgeable, with one noting their handling of allergens and another saying they happily make recommendations. Live bands and a DJ between sets draw praise, as does music that stays low enough for conversation. A few mention the table telephones for calling strangers, though one saw drunk customers try to ring other tables on phones with no numbers. Prices are called fair by a few. The recurring complaints are specific: one reviewer was disappointed that the cocktail menus use AI artwork and said they were unhappy with the owner's reply, and another found the abundance of gnats ridiculous around the bar area. One reviewer saw loud, rowdy customers get a firm warning from the doorman, and the telling detail is the visitor who went back the following night.

“Drinks are great, but really disappointed in the use of Ai for the menus. For somewhere that prides themselves on the craftsmanship of cocktails, you'd think they'd know better than to fuel something that nonconsensually uses artists work. How can you expect people to trust that you care about your menu if you can't be bothered to design it yourself, or better yet, pay an artist? Somewhere I've been telling people about for years. Really hope you sort it out, would love to come back Update in response to your response: I can see no justification for ever using Ai in the design world, and your response actually made me even more sad. This isn't ignorance for the impact of artificial intelligence, it's being complicit and fully aware. Incredibly disappointed, but we each have our own morals and our own justifications. Your history of going above and beyond in your concepts and supporting artists really only makes me more sad, and scared for the future. I'm also a bit confused that you would dismiss how much I recommended this place to people just because I didn't use Google to do it. Oh well. It's good to know if you ever change your mind on this issue, you have a full directory of artists and graphic designers ready. And if you do ever change your stance on Ai, I am excited to return.”

“The service and drinks were great!! However, the abundance of gnats was ridiculous. Clearly, there needs to be a little more cleaning around the bar area. Oh yeah, the music was great too!!”

“Came in for a few drinks, managed to find a table. It was a busy Saturday afternoon, but the atmosphere was great. What I loved was the music wasn't too loud, so could enjoy it but have a conversation too. Great selection of drinks, friendly staff.”

“Drink heaven!! The best selection of beers I've seen in a very long time. Loads of amazing spirits. Brilliant cocktails. Fantastic shots. Prices incredibly fair. Brilliant location. Well run bar. Toilets kept clean throughout the day/evening. Team super helpful and nice. If only we had something this good in London! Wonderful”

You’ll also find “The Strait Exchange”, an internal landline telephone network with a phone on every table (plus one in the grandfather clock)? Yep. Grab a phone and ring a table in the other room, make friends, tell jokes or simply romance the pants off whoever you’re talking to you.
