  “Overall, good experience. Brilliant staff, good atmosphere. The only issue was with my vegan curry; I found hard fibrous pieces in it, difficult to chew. The rest of it, fine.”

  “We booked here for lunch on a Saturday. It was quite busy but the staff were so attentive and friendly, we were asked a few times if we needed any more drinks etc. The food was amazing. We had spring rolls, calamari and the brisket, all would highly recommend! We were served mainly by Adam who was very friendly, the best service in a pub/restaurant we have had in a while.”

  “Visited last year and thought the food was incredible. Thought we would book again for a family meal of 4 wondering if it would manage compare to the first visit...it did! We all had Starters and Main courses and everyone thoroughly enjoyed. I highly recommend the Braised Beef dish. Will be returning, thanks again!”

  “We had beef brisket, mushroom stroganoff, lasagna, pork & salmon fish cakes. All of the food was absolutely stunning, I’d definitely recommend the beef brisket, it was unbelievable! The pork was a little dry but other than that everything was bang on”

  “A first visit to the Rose and Crown turned out to be an unexpected highlight after our usual venue was unable to fit us in. What began as a simple change of plan quickly became a memorable occasion, revealing a true gem of a gastropub that has clearly set its sights on excellence. From the moment we arrived, Tom — the host, owner, and custodian of the Rose and Crown — welcomed us with genuine warmth, despite our lack of a booking. His attentive and personable approach instantly put us at ease and set the tone for an evening that showcased both quality and care from start to finish. The food was nothing short of outstanding. The steak, in particular, deserves special mention; it was without question the finest we have tasted in quite some time. It was evident that the kitchen places great value on using high-quality local produce, and this commitment shone through in the presentation, flavour, and overall craftsmanship of each dish. Every plate served was not only visually appealing but represented remarkable value for money. The drinks selection further underlined the venue’s pursuit of quality. With an impressive range of wines, cask ales, and malt whiskies, the Rose and Crown caters effortlessly to a wide variety of tastes. The knowledge and professionalism displayed by the team during table service added another layer of excellence — attentive without being intrusive, and consistently focused on ensuring an enjoyable dining experience. In a time when many pubs face ongoing challenges, the Rose and Crown stands apart. The atmosphere strikes a thoughtful balance between modern refinement and traditional English hospitality, creating a welcoming space where both comfort and character coexist. Tom and his team have clearly worked hard to shape an identity built on high standards, pride, and a genuine passion for what they do. The events lounge is also a special place for birthdays, get togethers and special occasions. This visit has left a lasting cosy heartwarming impression (especilally my own dogs great great great grandfather displayed the wall) so much so, I felt compelled to leave this review, and it is safe to say that we will be returning. Our thanks go to Tom and the team for an evening that exceeded expectations in every respect. We look forward to seeing you again very soon.”

  “Booked for a family meal as new to the area and had close family visiting from Australia. Great table,amazing food, the atmosphere brilliant and the staff were really friendly and helpful with any requests made. Will definitely be returning in the near future. 5/5!!! Hoping to sneak in for Xmas Day!”
