Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the homemade pub food, naming the steak and ale pie, the pan fried steak in blue cheese and red onion sauce, the roasts and the salt and pepper chicken starter, with the homemade chips also singled out. Close behind come value for money and generous portions, with Fish Fridays described as massive and the pizzas as lovely. Reviewers call the staff friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere lovely and cosy, with the little lamps on each table getting a mention. The recurring complaint is slow food when the pub is busy. One party with young children, out for a special family meal, waited so long after ordering that they left without eating. A large group who enjoyed their lunch had to ask a staff member why it was taking so long and felt someone should have explained the delay. Several reviewers suggest booking because it is always busy. One reviewer describes the kitchen making a fully gluten and dairy free roast for a friend's one year old, who loved the Yorkshire pudding.

“The roasts were incredible and such good value! The atmosphere was lovely and everyone was so kind and welcoming. A special thank you for being so accommodating and creating a fully gluten and dairy free roast for my friend’s 1 year old daughter she absolutely loved it, especially the Yorkshire pudding! Will 1000% be coming back!”

“We booked a table for six and travelled just under an hour to come here because of the great reviews. This was also supposed to be a very special family meal, celebrating my mam getting the all-clear after cancer treatment, so we had really been looking forward to it. Unfortunately, after placing our food order, we waited over an hour and still received no food. We had young children with us, all under 10, who were absolutely starving by this point. Eventually we had no choice but to leave the restaurant without eating at all. I completely understand that restaurants get busy and sometimes there can be delays, but over an hour after ordering with no food arriving is unacceptable, especially when you have young children at the table. If there was going to be such a significant delay, we would have appreciated being made aware of it. After travelling nearly an hour and choosing this restaurant because of its good reputation, it was incredibly disappointing for what should have been such a happy and memorable family occasion to end this way. Sadly, based on our experience, we would not return. I wouldn’t even give it any stars”

“A real pub, restaurant with a real atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff are on hand and happy. The food is reasonably priced and well proportioned. Tasty and delicious I can recommend the pan fried steak in blue cheese and red onion sauce. Well worth a visit though it does get busy and I can certainly see why after the lovely meal we absolutely enjoyed here. Well done 👍”
