  “A proper cheap-and-cheerful favourite of mine. We’re only a stone’s throw away and feel genuinely lucky to have this on the doorstep — especially when it means we can easily waddle home afterwards. This is home-cooked, fresh-out-the-kitchen grub at prices that are getting harder to find. The weekly offers can’t be beaten — a 3-course menu for under £14 on a Monday (which changes every week), and at the weekend two well-sized fish & chip dinners for under £23 OR two excellent steak dinners with a bottle of wine for £45. We’ve tried them all. Service deserves a special mention. It’s never rushed or pushy — they won’t take orders if it risks overwhelming the kitchen, which actually gives you time to work through the menu and narrow it down to a top three (no panic ordering here). Food always arrives at just the right time after ordering — not suspiciously quick, just spot on. We’ve eaten our way through most of the menu and have never left disappointed or hungry. The creamy garlic mushrooms are a firm favourite, and the Cardwell curry is another go-to. No microwaved franchise nonsense — just proper homemade food. It’s a proper village pub too, with locals at the bar and a relaxed, friendly feel. Draught beer is always great, and you can often grab a bottle of red for under £20, which has more than once been our three courses done with. Casual enough for a midweek tea when you can’t face cooking or washing up, but just as good for a weekend treat. They also do a banging Sunday roast. We often bring friends or family when they’re visiting — who usually leave slightly jealous that this place is so close to us and not them. Verdict: Would happily return again and again (and I do!) — you just can’t beat it.”

  “Large free car park with disabled spaces. Wheelchair friendly entrance. Large beer garden, with smoking shelter far enough away so as to not be an issue (with heater). Pub was clean, tidy and had a warm atmosphere. Staff were pleasant, polite & helpful. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Toilets were clean and well equipped, couple of bits of toilet paper on the floor and no hot water. Highly recommend a visit here if you're looking for a good pub with excellent food!”

  “Went and had a very standard roast dinner . But the roasties of which were 2 small sized and were very dry and tasteless. 1 small yorkshire pudding . Wasn't the greatest roast dinner by far and at £15.99 expected better . Wont be returning for a roast anyway”

  “Been today for tea three of us. Couldn’t have asked for better service! We couldn’t decide on the wine and asked could we taste… no problem at all. Our order was a bit fussy as we wanted main meals and starters as mains also. They couldn’t do enough for us, anything we asked for (even being fussy) was no problem. The chef…. Well what can I say? Other than 10/10 everything was beautifully presented and tasted divine! Thank you x”

  “Went for Christmas dinner. £80 a head for 3 courses plus mince pie and tea or coffee after. It was absolutely delicious. And the service from the staff was brilliant. Nothing was rushed, all came at a nice place, just enough time between courses and a smile on every staff members face. Not to busy. But enough people in to create a nice atmosphere. Would 100% recommended. Thanks again to the team for an amazing day.”
