Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the breakfast, with one calling it first class and another finding it fine, praising the beans in a separate bowl and spreadable butter for the toast while noting hard eggs and a cold solitary mushroom. Close behind is the building itself, a converted bank with artistic paintings on the walls, a big space and a pub garden with shade. Others mention the spicy chicken pizza arriving quickly after ordering on the app, and a berry cider one drinker loves. Cleanliness splits opinion: one reviewer found dirty tables and sticky chairs even when it was quiet, another was handed food over uncleared plates and waited a long while for drinks, while another calls it clean and says staff were always cleaning and serving. One wheelchair user describes a ramp that bowed under the chair and did not sit flush, so staff guided them out through a back gate. One diner found the onion rings inedible and slimy inside. Staff who fixed an incorrect order and brought a ramp are described as kind and helpful.

“This review has been prompted by the service recivd from Molly. Wow. If i could give more than 5* I would. She kept looking at me and smiling, it was a warm smile like a smile you'd give a friend after not seeing them for a long time. Very sincere. Maybe it's a Newcasle thing but it's certainly an authentic way to make a person, customer or not, feel special. So much so i even asked if i knew her but it turns out she's just a very lovely girl. She stopped and spoke for a short while. What an absolute credit to the place. She said it was just her third shift too. Managers: keep hold of this one! She even came over to tell us she was leaving and to say goodbye which was a touch of class. Excellent throughout. I'm not local but may be back sooner rather than later just because of this experience because places that value customers deserve repeat business! On a side note, the spicy chicken pizza was 10/10 and came quickly after ordering on the app. The staff were alway on the move cleaning and serving. It's been a while since Ive been here but it's certainly improved since then. Great all round.”

“A decent Spoons but not very accessible. I visited this Wetherspoons today and picked it because it had a wheelchair accessible symbol on Google maps. Upon arriving I was met with two steps so my family asked for a ramp. The staff were kind and helpful and got a ramp so I could get inside. The ramp was a bit inadequate as it bowed under my wheelchair sending me tipping backwards. Luckily my family helped me not to fall. Upon leaving I realised the ramp does not sit flush with the stairs and therefore I couldn’t get out. A wonderful staff member guided me to a step free gate at the back of the building which lead me out onto an alley that rejoins the Main Street. Obviously this is not ideal as the gate did not seem like a public use gate. In regards to the food/drink. It took a decently long time to arrive with some food arriving incorrectly, but this was soon fixed. The food was good, your normal Wetherspoons meal. Overall it is your average Wetherspoons but I would recommend making changes to better the accessibility of the building.”

“Went to this Spoons for the first time since the other one in Preston closed. The interior is much more nicer with artistic paintings on the walls and a big space to hold a lot of people. Depending on the time you come here, you could have a peaceful or a chaotic experience (such as in any Spoons really). Though, tried one of my friends Onions rings that she got with her order and it was inedible. Slimy inside and unwell made. Hoping this is only a one time thing and doesn't actually show that it is the norm.”

“Skip it if you can. Even though it wasn’t busy, the tables were dirty, the chairs were sticky, and the overall cleanliness just wasn’t up to standard. The food was okay, but not good enough to make up for the experience or justify a visit, despite the beautiful architecture. With better management and attention to detail, this place could be so much better.”

“Bloody massive spoons compared to what we have down south Service was good, slightly delayed getting our drinks but to be fair the staff looked especially busy. Pub garden is nice with a bit of shade too 🍹🍸”
