  “Pub in a nice setting but my word, over priced!! It was Sunday so we had a Sunday roast sandwich with chips, here’s me expecting meat, Yorkshire pudding, veg etc etc. No, just a small bit of beef on a baguette which tasted shop bought. Had this been £6/£7 I don’t think anyone would have complained as the taste was nice but my, it was £15!!! Was around a 30min wait as well, which was too long.”

  “Great meal overall! The fish and chips were absolutely delicious and a standout dish. My partner enjoyed the flavorful steak and ale pie, though the crust was a bit on the dry side. Would definitely return!”

  “A truly great find. Fantastic local bear selection, plus your more commercial selections, bar snacks, I had wings and they were outstanding. Coffee and a great sekection of treats made on site. It serves as the local post office, has a pool table. It is quaint, but works for me.”

  “Only stayed for a couple of ales, Deception and an IPA from Eyam brewery which I can't remember the name of. It was curry night and only wish I could have stayed; needed to rush off for a train. Food menu looks interesting and there were a few diners in while I was there. Dog friendly, as you may be able to tell from the pictures. Dog treats on the bar and bowls available.”

  “Great service but the food brought it down for me unfortunately. Ordered a burger with no salad - came with salad and was missing other toppings described on the menu. Food seemed a bit pricey for the quality. Irn Bru on tap was nice though.”

  “First visit to this place. Booked for a family meal (party of 10 plus one dog.. water and treat station was a lovely touch) . Lovely warm welcome by the team. Some of the party had the Cullen Skink for starters and most of us had the Sunday lunch which was beautiful some ordered from the main menu ( burgers and fish and chips) all meals really good and excellent portion size. Deserts yummy especially the chocolate orange cheesecake! Reasonable price and all left having had a lovely afternoon.. not rushed from the table and had a great time catching up! Will definitely return!”

  “I really don’t like to blast a local establishment as I appreciate times are hard for pubs, but our experience here was almost comically terrible and so wildly out of step with the other reviews here that I had no choice but to share. The positives: The chips were great, the coleslaw was delicious (and seemed home made), and the jacket potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the outside. The restaurant was roomy and there was a pleasant cafe attached to it, and the parking was apt. The lady at the bar was also lovely. The negatives: The hummus starter was unlike any hummus I’ve ever had - basically just crumbly smashed chickpeas with no tahini, no moisture, and no flavour at all. The halloumi sticks were nice but dry, and not served with the promised sweet chilli sauce. The “steak” burger was an absolute travesty, I don’t think I’ve ever had such an awful burger. A small dry meat blob (seemed very much like a budget frozen patty), in a dry *cold* bun with a bit of melted cheese. Literally nothing else to it. The chickpea curry tasted fine, but had no chickpeas in it, and seemed like some arbitrary supermarket microwaveable vegetable curry. The food was slow to arrive (over 45mins), despite the restaurant not seeming busy at the time, and no explanation being given. The service was grumpy at best, and we felt unwelcome the whole time. Honestly at times it felt like the food was intentionally bad to spite us, though I’m sure this wasn’t the case. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but we’ll certainly never consider coming back.”

  “Anglers Rest (new management) We previously enjoyed many lovely meals at the Golf Club in Bakewell & were sad to hear Claire & Tom were leaving. But great news they’ve taken on the Anglers Rest in Bamford & are doing an amazing job. The food was excellent - fantastic menu - plenty of choices & cooked to perfection as always. We had Grilled Goats Cheese Salad & the Chicken Breast stuffed with Hartington Stilton. We didn’t make it to dessert this time but the rhubarb crumble sounds lovely! Great selection of drinks, love the decor & staff are so welcoming & attentive. Definitely recommend - lovely part of the Peak District - hoping to return soon. They are such hard workers & the food is consistently first-rate. Plenty of parking.”

  “Under new management! The food is great. We had the beef and the lamb, and both tasted amazing. Prices are a little higher than elsewhere nearby, but it's worth it. Good local beers on, too. Particularly liked the dog parking area 😀 Massive car park at rear also helps!”

  “We were looking for a place to eat near Bamford's Edge and the other places we tried had a very long wait for the food (close to an hour). Thus, we were looking for a place where that wouldn't be the case. Thankfully, we stumbled upon the Anglers Rest. This is a comfy and welcoming place with great food! It's the kind of food that makes you feel good (and I'm not saying this just because we were hungry). Highly recommended. We had Beef and Chicken Roast, Fish and Chips & the Chicken Burger (which was awesome).”
