About Crosspool Tavern
Crosspool Tavern is a pub in Sheffield at 468 Manchester Rd, part of the Stonehouse family. The carvery offers beef, turkey and gammon, with one slice of each for anyone who takes all three. Plates come with roast potatoes, vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and gravy, and a kids' carvery sits on the menu for younger diners. Carvery servers handle the meats, and the kitchen also makes stonebaked pizzas. A greeter at the front door shows guests to their tables, and a bar with bar staff is on site. Tables can be booked through a booking system or by phone.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the Sunday carvery, praising three choices of meat, loads of veg, crispy roast potatoes and the gravy, with one leek and potato vegan tart also called delicious. Staff draw the most consistent praise, described as friendly and good with children, and one family says they rearranged furniture for a wheelchair user and extended the booking, while another had a quieter table found for an autistic daughter. A few reviewers found desserts and Yorkshire puddings small for the price. The sharpest complaints concern the carvery itself: a long-time customer found only dry gammon and overcooked beef with no turkey, was told a fresh joint would take a while, then had meat weighed with the plate and pudding. Delivered kids carveries arrived with fatty beef, chewy potatoes, and a missing Yorkshire pudding, stuffing or drink. One group praised staff for finding two side-by-side tables for nine people the day before Mother's Day.

“I can’t speak on the quality of the carvery if eating inside here but I wouldn’t recommend getting it delivered. I’ve had the kids carvery a few times delivered where it’s mostly not been great. I’ve found the beef to be the worst of the meats. Once, it was so fatty it was completely inedible. The roast potatoes are chewy. Ordered a kids carvery today and again, I’ve had the same problems which I was hoping would’ve been resolved. I was missing both stuffing and a Yorkshire pudding. Also, I was only given one peice of the beef however if you are to choose all options of the meat you’re given one of each so was expecting another slice. Unfortunately I probably won’t be ordering online from here again Edit- Today my friend ordered through deliveroo and again the same as me was missing a drink and given what was a lump of beef fat. I have attached a photo. Do not order from here!”

“We have been coming here fir over 30 years and sadly the last few times have been very poor. We came today 2 of us I walked round to look as it had been awful on previous visits. There was one tiny bit of dry Gammon, no Turkey and a slab of overcooked dry beef. My self and another customer asked if they could bring a fresh joint of Turkey and Gammon to be told it would be 40 minutes. I just dont understand how they can charge full price when there was just one dried up beef and dried up stale vegetables. Then after waiting after waiting ages for someone to come out. No apology for not having the 3 meats you would expect in any carvery the lady pulled out some scales put a pudding on the plates which are now smaller then normal cut 1 slice of each meat and weighed it WITH the plate and pudding!! I got just got 2 small slices of meat, hows that work when i would have had a slice of each. If they havnt got what we paid for then the price should be reduced. As this is the 3rd visit with no meat one no veg another and no potato's ready the other time. We will never go again after more than 30 years of being a customer. Ill be suprised it it states open”

“I’ve been to a few stonehouse pubs and it almost put me off trying this one today, but im so glad we chose the Crosspool Tavern. Food was lovely, staff were excellent and helpful with the menu and kids eat for £1 through summer. Louise was particularly friendly and made us feel so welcome. Will definitely be returning!”

“The Tavern wasn’t very busy today but this made for a very relaxing atmosphere. Food good, drinks goods, server Louise was really great especially with our 5 year old granddaughter. To be fair all staff were pleasant from the greeter, bar staff and carvery servers. We’ve been to the Tavern before and we will definitely come again.”
