About The Strines Inn
The Strines Inn is a pub and B&B on Mortimer Road in Sheffield, with antique-furnished rooms above the bar and peacocks roaming just outside. Stays include a full English breakfast. The building is old and sits in the hills with countryside views, and an open fire burns in the pub. The menu includes steak and ale pies with chips, a Giant Yorkshire Pudding with roast potatoes and gravy that can also come with cheese sauce, and a ploughman's platter. Drinkers can choose from alcohol-free options, including one on draught. Orders and payment happen at the bar, and the pub is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Pies lead the praise, with steak and ale pies and a home made pie singled out, one reviewer calling it one of the best they have had, though another was unimpressed by the pie their father in law ordered. Close behind are a giant pudding with roast potatoes and gravy (also served with cheese sauce), a ploughman's platter, steak with proper chips, and a salmon dish. Reviewers also mention a full english breakfast with a room stay, a perfect pint of Estrella, an alcohol free option on draught, and a big open fire. Portions split opinion. Several call them generous, while others found them small or not great. One diner described a lasagne order where swapping the salad for chips also meant losing the garlic bread, which staff then offered only at extra cost, and no one checked on the table afterward. Several praise friendly, welcoming staff and the countryside views, and one notes the pub is dog friendly. A couple of reviewers recall peacocks wandering just outside.

“Just been to the Stines, I really enjoyed my Salmon. Father in law had a pie, wasn't that impressed Portion sizes, well put it this way - I usually struggle to finish but I did not this time. Overall good, but could be better. Decent food, not great portion sizes, great place to eat though.”

“Food was nice but portions were quite small. Service could have been better. We didn't mind ordering and paying at the bar but when we asked if we could change the salad for chips with the lasagne they said yes but didn't say we'd be swapping both the salad and garlic bread for chips (we did ask when the meals came and they went presumably to get garlic bread but came back to say they could bring it but we would have to pay extra - we said they didn't say that when we asked about changing but it was no use so we went without the garlic bread which was a shame). The meals were fine which was fortunate since no one came to check (they weren't busy at 5pm on a Sunday). Portion sizes and service could be improved so we won't be returning”

“We had a wonderful experience! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were generous and offered great value for money. On top of that, the restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere that makes it a lovely place to relax and enjoy a meal. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be coming back!❤️”

“What an amazing find! We came across this pub completely by chance after visiting Derwent Dam, and I’m so glad we did. The location is absolutely stunning — tucked away in the middle of the hills, surrounded by beautiful countryside, sheep and other animals. It feels like a little hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. The building itself is beautiful and full of history, with so much character and old-world charm. We only stopped for a beer, but the service was absolutely fantastic and the whole place had such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. One of those places you find by accident and end up remembering! Absolutely stunning location, beautiful building and amazing service. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”
