Quick info
About Sunbeam
Sunbeam is a pub in Wolverhampton city centre, near the theatre, at 10 Victoria Sq. The menu runs to 46 dishes, including Garlic Bread and fish and chips, and a Pub Classics meal deal covers two meals. Table service means the staff check on the food at each course. The interior was recently refurbished with new decor and carpet. A booth with a wide view of the city is available for those who want a seat above the square, and tables can be pre-booked. The tables are set with space between them.

Customer Review Summary
The caveats centre on cost and consistency. One reviewer found a small cup of tea expensive and the curry portion small with no naan, and another says the online menu showed a lower price for the two-meal deal than the printed one. The steak was called tough, one burger too rich, and the kids offer is said to be poorly advertised, with some staff unaware of it. Reactions to the refurbishment differ, with one disliking the new carpet and another liking the fresher look. One reviewer said staff explained the menu mismatch by saying the new menus had not yet been updated online.

“I was a bit disappointed with my visit yesterday. I don’t like the new decor at all. I particularly hate the new carpet which made me feel a bit dizzy. I feel the place is less comfortable to sit in. The chicken tikka was lovely but I was surprised it did not come with a small naan bread. The portion size was disappointingly small. The worst thing though was the tea. I was shocked that a small cup of tea was £3.80. You can have unlimited refills but I only wanted one cup so didn’t want to pay more than about £2.70 for a tea. So for a small curry without naan bread and a tea the bill was over £14.00. If I went again I’d buy a meal because the food is lovely but I’d probably take a flask of tea or coffee in or a bottle of water. I suppose theoretically two people could share a cup of tea and get refills”

“Love the new refurbishment. Freshen's the place up, lighting and cleanliness was good. Service was excellent, prompt and the food was hot. Our server was Keira who was attentive and pleasant. Overall a good service. Mary”

“Pub classics 2 for £15 is a great deal. We went for the lasagne, one beef , one veggie. It came out piping hot, with a lovely fresh side salad. Glad we added garlic bread each & a portion of sweet potato fries, other classic meals looked better value for money but we were perfectly satisfied. Staff were polite and attentive both at the bar & waiting staff. Lovely clean venue, pleasant atmosphere with low level background music. Well lite, with plenty of space between tables.”

“Booked online after looking at menu which advertised 2 meals for £14. When arrived, hard copy menu advertised 2 meals for £15. Raised with staff who said the online menu had not been updated as menus were new? Ordered fish and chips and chicken bacon salad. Salad was very nice but the fish was swimming in oil and consisted of mainly batter. Had to soak up excess oil with napkin. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Would appreciate feedback from management. Thank you”
