About The Yellow Monkey
The Yellow Monkey is a micropub-style bar on Mesnes St in Wigan, with stools along the bar in a small room. It took over from Docs Alehouse on 29 June 2023, when new owners began a fresh chapter under the current name. Around three real ales are on cask at a time, and gins, whiskeys and wines are also served. Home made snacks and nibbles come with a limited vegetarian and vegan selection. Dogs are welcome, with a bowl on the floor and treats from the owner. Children are not allowed inside. The bar sits close to Mesnes Park, so it works as a stop during or after a walk.

Customer Review Summary
Beer draws most reviewers, with real ales at the center. Several praise a good, varying selection, one counts three cask ales, and another calls the beers well priced. Close behind are the friendly staff and landlord, and the outside seating by Mesnes Park, which reviewers describe as a lovely spot for a pit stop on a walk. Gins, whiskeys, wine and prosecco also get a mention, along with home made snacks. One reviewer calls the nibbles modest and notes a very limited veggie and vegan choice. The small bar is described as always busy and popular, with a lot of regulars. One reviewer finds the interior drab, dark and tatty, and dislikes the stools at the bar and a dog bowl on the floor that could trip someone up. Outside, the owner does table service and brings treats for visiting dogs.
