About Real Crafty
Real Crafty is a bar on Upper Dicconson St in Wigan, opened in 2020 just outside the town centre. Thirty keg taps and five cask hand pumps carry a changing selection, with craft beers from abroad alongside cask ales like Ossett White Rat and the local Blackedge Ltd Treacle Stout. Tap takeovers rotate the lineup. A canning machine fills 440ml cans from any draught beer, so a favourite pour can go home with you. Food is limited, with pies served from a warm cabinet behind the bar and crisps and nuts alongside. Live music is a regular feature, and a room at the back is available to hire. The CAMRA discount scheme operates here, and the bar won Greater Manchester CAMRA Regional Pub Of The Year 2022. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return above all for the beer, a wide rotating choice of craft keg taps alongside five cask handpulls, with Ossett porter, strawberry frulli, salt serge and factotum named as favourites. Tap takeovers and always something new to try come up repeatedly. Close behind are the bar staff, described as extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, along with a warm atmosphere and plenty of friendly locals. Pies, pork pies and sausage rolls are the food mentioned, though one reviewer calls the food limited. A more lukewarm review says drinks are priced like other bars. Location draws mixed comments, since the pub sits a short walk out of the centre and, as a couple of football visitors note, nowhere near the ground. One regular wishes thatchers cloudy lemon cider were on tap. Dogs are welcome, and live music and a room to hire at the back also get a mention. One visitor singles out the canning machine, which fills a 440ml can with any draught beer to take home.

“Argyle on tour 😃‼️ My first pub stop after taking 7hrs to get here on the train. And….a brilliant choice too with a good choice of beers and a bowl of mixed nuts at £1.50 !! Lots of locals and had a good vibe. Slightly out of the town and nowhere near the Wigan stadium but it’s worth it!”

“This is my favourite pub in Wigan. I always enjoy coming here. The atmosphere is always really nice. The bar staff are always ridiculously friendly and helpful. Dog friendly too. They have loads of changing great beers and some of my favourites include salt serge, karaoke, steady rolling man, pretty decent beer co's I could get better for a quid in tesco and factotum amongst many others. If they were to get thatchers cloudy lemon cider on tap it might just make it the best pub ever.”

“A few minutes walk from the centre, and unfortunately for me , in the wrong direction for the football ground. Just time for a quick pint of excellent Ossett porter. Five handpulls and a big selection of craft beers. The pies looked very tempting.”

“Great little bar on the outskirts of Wigan. Good selection of beers, including my favourite strawberry frulli. Limited food, but delicious pork pies, crisp and nuts. Regular live music and authentic atmosphere. Room to hire at the back of the pub.”
