About The open arms
The Open Arms is a bar in Wigan, at 90 Wigan Ln, where three real ales on hand pumps rotate weekly. The rest of the drinks list covers lagers, stout, two ciders, red and white wines and hand-made cocktails. Quiz night and bingo night each run once a month, and live music rounds out the events calendar. Food is limited to crisps and the occasional soup and butties, so the focus stays on the bar. Well-behaved dogs are welcome inside. A jukebox, a dartboard and a stack of board games are on hand for anyone who wants something to play.

The friendly welcome and atmosphere is what reviewers raise most, with the owners, staff and regulars all described as friendly and several mentioning a warm welcome on arrival. Beer comes next, with drinkers praising a great selection and one saying the beer is always perfect. One reviewer calls the hand made cocktails the best they have tasted. The pub is described as small, homely and cozy, with comfy seating, quirky decorations, a jukebox, a dartboard and board games. Live music on Friday night and a quiz night give it a proper community feel, and one reviewer notes that well behaved dogs are welcome. Several point out that no food is served beyond crisps and the occasional soup and butties, and one says it is not a restaurant despite how Google Maps lists it. Reviewers close on small touches like the complimentary cheese and biscuits left out on the bar.

“A very friendly little pub with a great atmosphere. The beer is always perfect, the personally hand made cocktails are the best I have ever tasted, they don't do food but if they did I'm sure that would be perfect also. The staff always greet you with a friendly smile, there are various events throughout the month like quiz nights, live entertainment nights ect. The pub is also dog friendly for well behaved dogs.”
