About The Royal Oak
The Royal Oak is a pub in Wigan at 111-113 Standishgate that serves afternoon teas alongside cask ales and live music. The bar also pours premium spirits and mixes cocktails, so the drinks side covers more than ale. Breakfast is served, which gives the pub a daytime role, and lunch is part of the day too. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring their pets along when they stop in for a drink or a meal.

Customer Review Summary
Food draws the most praise, with reviewers singling out the corn ribs from the new menu, fries described as the best in years, and a BLT salad. Breakfast and lunch are also called tasty, and one diner says a quick pint turned into a meal after seeing plates go past. Well made cocktails and mocktails get a mention too. Staff come up almost as often, described as friendly, welcoming and helpful, including a young server called efficient and a manager who made sure everyone was having a good time. The large rear beer garden with private booths and long party tables features, as does a calm interior with many rooms to sit. Not everything lands. One reviewer found the garlic bread short on garlic and the peri peri chicken a bit bland, and an afternoon tea party disliked the cheesecake and found the scones dry, though they still called it worth the price. Another reviewer points out that the pub even has a food menu for dogs.

“Good food and the drinks are reasonably priced, I've walked past this pub like 500 times and never gave it a go, it's got a massive rear beer garden and the staff were nice and attentive, the food was really good and decent prices, would definitely recommend for a lazy Sunday or a few pints in the week”

“Nipped in for a quick pint, ended up staying in for food as what was going past me looked really good. After couple of pints I noticed the cocktails board so i enjoyed a couple of well made cocktails too, they also made mocktails which others i was with enjoyed. This was all done out side in a big bbq area with private booths, long party tables and the smaller 4/2 seater tables. I will definitely be going back, service was spot on, very welcoming and helpful. The place was very clean and looked to have sports and live music also available.”
