Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the welcome for dogs, with free dog treats and fusses for pups, and describe a family friendly pub that has been visibly refurbished compared with what it was. The large outside seating area and garden are repeatedly praised, along with a good beer selection and live rugby that one reviewer enjoyed despite not normally following the sport. Close behind is the food: a limited menu earned praise for chunky homemade chips, a burger, and a veggie finger butty, one reviewer's favourite was the hotpot, and several mention food trials handed out while the menu is developed. Staff are called friendly and helpful, and one reviewer found the toilets the cleanest they had seen in a pub. The main complaints concern food and drink not matching the signage: one visitor found no food served despite outdoor signs advertising it, and was told coffee was unavailable. Another feels children should leave by 8 pm because of screaming kids during sport. One reviewer also notes staff seemed less engaged as the evening went on, while another says the pub deserves to do well.

“only fault with this pub and it's not just me what says it, is kids are allowed in way too long, should be gone by 8 pm, don't go out to watch and listen screaming kids”

“Dog friendly, family friendly, lady behind the bar was cute and laughed at my bad jokes 😅 watched the Rugby and enjoyed the atmosphere and I'm not even into Rugby normally. Cleanest toilets I've ever seen in a pub!!”

“Was invited by an old friend on a trip to Scotland. Was greeted by a friendly alive atmosphere, live rugby was playing. People there were friendly and welcoming to dogs which was a big bonus. Even some free dog treats and a hotdog, what could be better. Drinks were lovely and they looked after their customers.”

“Great tavern great staff great selection of beers and spirits delicious food. Very friendly. Dogs and children welcome under supervision. All round a great pub that deserves to do well. A great benefit to the community.”

“Started doing a limited menu for the time being but the food was DELICIOUS! Chunky homemade chips were amazing! I myself had the burger and I went with people who had a veggie finger butty and a bacon butty. All of our dietary requirements were accommodated for and the food was pipping hot when it arrived. The atmosphere was lovely, very homely and cosy and the service was spot on! Can’t fault them. 10/10 would come again and recommend to a friend”
