About Coach & Horses

Coach & Horses is a pub on High Rd in Uxbridge with a large rear beer garden holding over 60 tables, a garden bar, a summer house and heated umbrellas, giving groups plenty of room to spread out. Inside, the pub is split into a bar with TVs for sports fans and a quieter restaurant area for sit-down meals. The kitchen serves a roast with plenty of variety, with vegetarians catered for, along with a three-course set menu and an afternoon tea of sandwiches and refilled pots of tea. Real ales are on the drinks list, and a real log fire burns in winter. Food and drinks can be ordered at the bar or online. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the meals, from a celebration Sunday roast with plenty of variety and vegetarian options to a weekday set menu called a great deal, plus a hunters chicken, a rib eye cooked perfectly, and a burger. Close behind is the service, described as friendly and efficient, and one family says a table was moved to fit a highchair. A Mother's Day afternoon tea drew praise for its generous sandwiches and refilled pots of tea, and the kids menu and dog-friendly welcome also get mentions. The recurring complaint is ordering: a few say they had to go to the bar even with a separate restaurant area, and one needed to return to the bar between courses, while another liked ordering online for a theatre visit. One reviewer found the sausages and mash reheated, with lumpy, unseasoned potatoes and an unseasoned fried squid starter, and another thought the food a bit overpriced. One also missed the Yorkshire wagyu burger, which was unavailable.

“Food ok, I think it’s bit over price. Service is bit lack of you order food from one course to another one. I need to go to bar for attention”

“I was visiting from the US, and happened to stop by with family for some early dinner. Great kids menu! The burger I had was great too. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Lovely building, car park at the back. Staff were very nice! Would definitely recommend.”

“We chose this pub as we were going to a local theatre. The service was okay. The staff were a bit of fish but using the online to order our food was great absolutely great really well we got exactly what we ordered and the drinks and actually the order came very efficiently. Would I recommend this? Pub? I definitely would if you’re going to the theatre or you just wanna have a meal and not worry about getting served at the bar.”

“Had a fantastic meal here yesterday Wednesday 15th April 2026 with my wife and 2 Yr old boy. I have to say that not only was the meal ( we had hunters chicken and a rib eye steak) was lovely but the service was superb too. Especially the gentleman serving our food, I assume was a manager was absolutely brilliant, so attentive, friendly and professional. We came about 6pm. My steak was perfectly cooked, I work as a chef so I know. Thank you everyone.”

“Eight of us came for a celebration Sunday roast and ate as much as we possibly could for £140. Everything was delicious and there was plenty of variety in the dishes that made up the roast. Vegetarians were catered for and there wasn't a Birdseye frozen vegetable in sight. We couldn't fault the service. A table was moved so that we could accommodate a highchair, and there was room for a pram as well. This is a clean, attractive pub/restaurant, and I only wish it was nearer to my home.”
