About The White Bear

The White Bear is a pub on Church St in Rickmansworth, open daily, serving English, Indian and Nepalese dishes alongside beers, spirits and ales. The menu includes Tikka Masala and Lal Mas, so Indian and Nepalese cooking sits next to the pub fare. Screens show live sports, including football, so a match can go with a meal. Diners who want a quieter dining area can ask for one when they book. The pub also hosts functions and private bookings, and it takes large parties, including groups of 10.

Customer Review Summary

The caveats are noise and service. One reviewer found it very noisy with football showing and found the Tikka Masala underwhelming. Another says the pub is so busy that booking is needed, and that a forgotten first course arrived with the main and was not charged for. One reviewer suggests asking for the quieter dining area when booking.

“Beautiful food. The smells coming from the kitchen are enticing, the flavour lives up to it!”
  • Onnie O
“Very noisy. Football was showing which didn't help and everyone seemed to need to shout! Serves Indian food here but very underwhelming. I had Tikka Masala which I wouldn't rush back for.”

“We have eaten here on and off for a good few years and have never been disappointed. In search of a bit value of late we have been more regularly and sampled more of the varied menu, each time the food has been top notch, the portions are bigger than the average restaurant, the staff polite and courteous. Overall, good value for money, gladly recommend.”
  • Danielle Kealy
“The foood is delicious each dish brings a new taste sensation to the palate. The staff are friendly warm and welcoming. The food and drink are reasonable. I would recommend this pub to anyone. The pub does show sports, so if you want a quieter dining experience make sure you specify this when booking as there is a quieter dining area. However, if you love sport, you can eat scrumptious food, whilst you cheer your team on.”
