About The Glantaff Inn
The Glantaff Inn is a family-run pub in Treharris that has been a public house since the 1800s, with bunkhouse accommodation upstairs for overnight stays and a log fire. Real ale and wine are served alongside a kitchen that makes its Beef Madras and Steak & Ale pie in-house. Sunday lunch offers beef or turkey with vegetables and homemade gravy, with extra gravy on request. Downstairs holds the dining area and a snug, and a separate seating area sits on the upper floor. Dogs are welcome, and the team puts out water and chews for them. The pub also runs music and karaoke in the evenings.

Customer Review Summary
The main complaint comes from one birthday booking for four. The party was seated upstairs alone, had to fetch their own menus and go down to the bar to order despite being told it was table service, and met a long list of unavailable dishes. That reviewer found the garlic bread and onion rings soft and under cooked and the madras tasteless, and felt unwanted. Every other review is positive, and one family lunch closed with extra gravy brought on request.

“Visited today for a family lunch. We all ordered different meals, with a lovely Steak & Ale pie and I had Beef Madras with 1/2 rice & chips. We both agreed that our homemade choices were the best we have had . The others stayed safe with scampi and southern fried chicken. Large portions with chips and side salad etc. Quiet at the time we visited, but obviously quite a few were outside in the lower beer garden enjoying the sunshine. Excellent friendly service, would definitely highly recommend. Thank you. Ps sorry no photos as I couldn’t wait to taste my gorgeous looking curry 🤣”

“We stayed upstairs at the Bunkhouse, great affordable place to stay for a couple of nights! We booked a table for dinner and enjoyed the food, staff were so friendly as well. Amazing spicy bean burger, fries and sweet potato fries! Decently priced and such a friendly place, we felt so welcome. Thank you, we'll definitely be back!”

“We booked a table for 4 in advance for my birthday, when we got there we were dumped upstairs on our own, we had to get our own menus, the specials board was flash in front of us before we had chance to say what we wanted the lad had gone. After waiting a while we then had to go down stairs to the bar to place our order, we were told it was table service and to wait for someone to come. There was a long list of food unavailable. The food was obviously rushed as the garlic bread and onion rings were soft and under cooked, the pulled port was dumped in a roll with the salad in the bun cooked underneath and the madras was tasteless. We were made to feel very unwanted like we were an inconvenience. When wanting a drink we had to go to the bar and no one came back to offer a desert menu, we went to the bar to pay and left. If we hadn't booked in advance I would understand or if we went in with a attitude. I wouldn't recommend it, it put a really dampener on my birthday. Such a shame as it use to be a great place to go for food.”

“The Sunday lunch was amazing the meat just fell apart. Great choice of vegetables and lots of gravy to go with it. First visit here and it certainly won't be our last. Landlord and staff very friendly and always smiling. Thank you for a wonderful visit.”

“Hands down the nicest Sunday lunch ive had in a long time! My partner had beef and I had turkey both meats fell apart beautiful. Cooked to perfection. Nice mix of vegetables too. The gravy is clearly homemade an absolutely delicious. The children's dinner was a really good size and my son absolutely smashed it. The chocolate brownie is a must have for dessert. Really nice chilled vibe, the staff are absolutely lovely and really friendly. The manager or possibly owner was also really nice super friendly. Also dog friendly and little teddy even had his own sausages. Can't rate the place enough will definitely be going back”
