Quick info
About Bunch Of Grapes, Pontypridd
Bunch Of Grapes is a gastropub at 40 Ynysangharad Rd in Pontypridd, set beside the last remaining double lock on the Glamorganshire canal. The Cwrw Otley micro-brewery on site means the beers are brewed in-house, and the bar also keeps a range of real ales on. Alcohol-free options sit alongside them. In the kitchen, local produce is cooked over coals, and the menu runs to small plates and a set menu. Brisket lollipops, a scotch egg and cockles on sourdough are among the dishes. Sunday lunch is a roast dinner, with a veggie roast for those who skip the meat. The pub is open daily, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the range of real ales and other beers, some brewed in-house, alongside food they call exceptional. A steak served medium rare with day-made onion rings, a veggie burger, brisket lollipops, smoked mackerel and a veggie Sunday roast all draw praise, and the sticky toffee pudding is described as to die for. One diner who ordered six small plates named the scotch egg, cockles on sourdough and belly pork as the best dishes. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and attentive, and the beautiful garden area earns its own mention. The one criticism is isolated: that same diner found the risotto cold and lacking depth, though another reviewer enjoyed theirs. Two birthday parties asked ahead for special touches at the table, and in both cases the staff delivered, including a surprise picture placed on the table.

“Incredible fathers day roast dinner. All the food was exceptional, service was fantastic and the atmosphere, especially in the beautiful garden area was really wonderful. We will be making it a regular spot!!”

“We came here for the first time this evening to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We’ve heard a lot of local hype about here and it definitely lives up to it! Really friendly service, 10/10 food (one of the best veggie burgers I’ve had in a while, and I’ve had a lot!) and a lovely, chilled atmosphere. I put a special request in for the table to celebrate my husband’s birthday and they took real care and attention to this too for a funny surprise. Thank you so much, we will definitely be back!”

“Me and my wife went here this evening for the first time for my birthday. We had a fantastic evening, the food was amazing. The staff were really friendly, polite and extremely helpful. The vibe, decor and atmosphere was great, we will definitely be going back in the future. As it was my birthday and I love Roy Keane my wife asked ahead if they could put a picture of Roy Keane on the table and they delivered in style. They provided great hospitality but that’s their job …..”

Brisket Lollipops and Smoked Mackrel were lovely followed by Chicken and Mushroom Risotto Highly Recommended. 😝”
