About The Malcolm Uphill
The Malcolm Uphill is a Wetherspoon pub in Caerphilly, at 87-91 Cardiff Rd near the bus and train station. Breakfast is served, and tea and Lavazza coffee come with free refills. For lunch and dinner, the menu covers gourmet burgers, freshly made pizzas, deli deals and vegetarian choices, with wings and onion rings as sides. Most meals include a drink. A steak night and a curry night give the food menu two set themes. The bar pours real ales, craft beers, gins and soft drinks. Customers order through the Wetherspoon app, and drinks are brought to the table. Finding a seat can take time at busy periods. Coal Mine booths are among the seating.

Customer Review Summary
The main complaints concern food and tables. One reviewer received a half portion that arrived barely warm and reheated, and another says food has come back lukewarm, small or missing an ingredient, with standards dipping when it is busy. Weekends make tables hard to find, and waits grow longer at peak times. The interior is called outdated, and one finds the bar staff rude and disinterested. A replacement BBQ sauce went to another table.

“My bbq type sauce didn't look so good. It was replaced but it was put on another table, the man who received it wasn't happy to give it up to me! The member of staff saw me a female then put it on a males table...ummm not paying attention. Toilets were nice and clean.”

“Food & drinks served in good time by friendly staff Air conditioning good but might need a light top as a bit chilly”

“I ordered some food here and it arrived barely warm, it was clear it had been sitting around for a while and it was just reheated. And no less it was half a portion honestly ridiculous. The waiter looked at the portion and me and knew there was an issue but I didn’t want to cause an issue. Spending money is a scam.”

“Maddie one of your employees was wonderful! Super friendly and lovely and handled a intense situation with a reactive individual incredibly professionally and compassionately. She made the experience wonderful and kept us all comfortable whilst it was going on and I'd like to say a personal thank you to her for handling it so amazingly! :)”
