  “Really lovely Sunday roast! We ordered the cauliflower cheese and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, even walking around offering extra potatoes and Yorkshire puddings, which was such a nice touch. The meat was soft, tender and delicate, the roast potatoes were perfectly crispy on the outside while still lovely and fluffy inside, and the vegetables were full of flavour. Everything was cooked really well and tasted fresh and homemade. A lovely place with great food and genuinely friendly service. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back!”

  “Called by here on a Friday afternoon for an early meal before going to the Literary festival. Just had mains of the fishcake and the chicken and ham pie. Both meals were excellent. Good choice of beers and we had the excellent London Pride. Staff were friendly and attentive. Great choice of Specials. Free parking as well. Will definitely be visiting again.”

  “After spending the morning soaking up the atmosphere of Shakespeare’s hometown, we made our way to The One Elm on Guild Street for Sunday lunch. While there was famously a nightmare on Elm Street, the One Elm on Guild Street made our dreams come true in a good way. We entered with our German Shepherd and there were a few other dog owners in there relaxing and having a beer. It was warm and comfortable inside, and rainy and cold outside. It is a beautiful space, and we were seated in a cosy corner, where we could defrost and settle in for lunch. What stood out to me quickly was how genuinely friendly and welcoming the servers were. They were friendly, attentive, and easygoing - and wanted to make sure my family and my dog were well looked after. It is obviously very dog-friendly, with a relaxed, inclusive vibe that suits families, couples, and visiting tourists alike. Food-wise, Sunday lunch delivered exactly what you want. We ordered a mix that included lamb, trout, halloumi fries, chicken wings, and sides. Everything was nice, pub food done well. It was a lovely way to spend some time chatting about all we had learned from our day exploring. The wine list was also pretty solid which made it easy to pair drinks with food. So to summarise: if you’re visiting Shakespeare’s hometown and want a cosy, welcoming, and decent Sunday lunch, this is an easy recommendation.”
