About The Tavern, Broom
The Tavern, Broom is a pub in Alcester, at 32 High St, where the pasta is made in house and a spring carbonara with chicken and pancetta is on the menu. Customer Review Summary
Fish is what reviewers raise most, from the fish and chips to a crunchy onion ring batter around perfectly cooked fish, and a solid fishcake topped with Hollandaise and a poached egg. Close behind is the spring carbonara with chicken and pancetta, which diners say uses pasta made in house, along with the Tavern burger. Others praise the mussels, belly pork, pie of the day, loaded yorkie, dirty fries and onion soup. One gluten free diner found almost the whole menu available, even on a Sunday, and several mention Sunday lunch. Service is described as friendly and prompt, including on a busy warm evening when staff were working flat out inside and out. The one reservation is the beef Wellington, which a reviewer found closer to stewing steak than fillet, though it was well presented with nice flavours. One couple marking their wedding anniversary found a card and stones left by staff, and a dessert with happy anniversary written in chocolate.

“Really great pub with so many food options even on a Sunday. Also well worth noting that the Gluten free options are extensive, which as a GF diner is extremely rare to find that you can eat almost everything on the menu! We stopped on a Sunday and had a loaded yorkie, which was so delicious. Thanks so much!!”

“I cannot rate the food too highly. Beautifully presented. I had the fishcake (hige) it was solid fish, Hollandaise sauce, poached egg (decorated with edible flowers) and fries. Good service and lo ely ambience. I shall now be a regular.”

“On a recommendation from a work colleague we ventured to the Tavern at Broom last Friday 17th April to try out there food menu I had the Tavern burger Which was very nice , but the show stopper was the spring carbonara with chicken and pancetta which my wife had , The lady who took our order kirsty informed to us that the pasta was made in house it was a show stopper , so moving forward we booked for this Friday 24th april to take my wifes parents with us unfortunately we made a mistake when booking on line for 7.30pm we booked 17.30 , but a table was made available by 7.30 pm , with the warm weather the pub was very busy inside and out Kirsty and the team were quite honestly working there socks off to accommodate the volume of customers inside eating and people drinking outside drinking Our meal arrived quite quickly I plumbed for the pasta also my wife and mother in law had the same my father in law had the burger the food was hot with generous portions . The Tavern promotes the use of local products in there food which i honestly think is great. In finishing we would like to thank kirsty and the team at the Tavern for a great meal and fantastic evening this will not be our last visit, we highly recommend this pub.”
