About Th' Owd Smithy Inn
Th' Owd Smithy Inn is a small village pub in Preston, on Liverpool Old Rd, and it has become a free house for the first time in over a century. That status brings cask ales from local breweries, served through extended hand pulls. Lagers and wines sit alongside them, and the bar carries a selection of beers. A screen shows sport, and the landlady works behind the bar among regulars and locals. Dogs are welcome. The pub takes card and contactless payments.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers describe a small village pub whose staff and landlady come up most, called friendly, chatty, attentive and welcoming, with one saying the staff looked after their group well. Close behind is the beer, with diners praising a good selection and excellent pints, and a few calling it cheap for the area. Several mention a friendly atmosphere with a good crowd of regulars, and others note a modern interior, a screen showing sport and clean facilities. The main reservations come from one reviewer who spotted a few cobwebs, wished for a sitting-out area at the side of the pub and hoped food would return, since none is currently served. Another found the beer only ok. One reviewer notes that card and contactless payments are taken, and a landlady described as very pleasant is the detail that prompts one guest to say they will go back.

“The Smithy, is Much Hooles best (and only) public house. With a difference! For the first time in over a century, its back to a free house. As with the beauty of being a free house, we will be serving a delicious range of lagers, wines and the cask ales (of which, we are extending the hand pulls), will see local brew houses being introduced. And of course, all at keen prices!”
