About The Plough at Euxton
The Plough at Euxton is a gastropub in Chorley on Runshaw Ln, with a 12-hole crazy golf course, John & Jerry's, on site for guests who want to add a round to a meal. The kitchen cooks with local ingredients and seasonal produce. The menu includes a Sunday roast with beef, or a 3 meat option, served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and vegetables. A steak and ale pie comes with a puff pastry top, vegetables and gravy, and posh scampi is also listed. Inside, a large bar area with plenty of tables runs alongside a bright extension dining area. Tables can be booked in advance, and dogs are welcome. The pub also hosts events such as weddings, wakes and baby showers.

Customer Review Summary
The steak and ale pie is the dish reviewers praise most, described as delicious, with ample steak and gravy for dipping the puff pastry top. The posh scampi comes close behind, called excellent and huge, and one reviewer singles out the fish and chips. Several mention generous portions and friendly, polite, pleasant staff, and one reviewer booked a table for a next night out. The complaints are about the cooking. Chips are the most repeated problem, called dry and hard even alongside the otherwise praised pie and scampi, and greasy, overcooked and limp in another review that also found the steak fatty and gristly. Two Sunday roast diners describe dry meat, rock hard potatoes and turnips, and a dry or charred Yorkshire pudding, and one says the beef arrived very well done without being asked. One visitor found the crazy golf overgrown and closed, and another received only a small discount after complaining about the steak.

“We visited a couple of weekends ago. We decided to give it a try because of the positive reviews we had read. We all had the Sunday roast, which was beef. We weren't asked how we preferred it to be cooked. it just came very well done, whether you wanted that or not. I didn't. The roast potatoes, ( two), tasted like plastic. The Yorkshire Pudding tasted dry and crisp. The vegetables were hardly cut up, and had been cooked very little. They were far too hard for my taste, and I left them. All of our group felt the same about the meal. We were all very disappointed. I wouldn't be able to recommend based on our experience. Maybe it was just a bad day in the kitchen.”

“If I could leave no stars I would. Arrived 11.40am on a Saturday for lunch. We chose the place because it says 'Crazy Golf' on their website. Unfortunately it was an overgrown 'has-been' attraction and not open. No one else was in the pub and we were speedily shown a table. We ordered three Coke Zeros whilst we looked at the menus. When they came they were varying shades of brown from very dark to wishy washy brown. All tasted different and not right.10 minutes later three more drinks came and we ordered at 11.50am. Two pizzas arrived at 12.25pm and then one of the famous Beef Korean Salads. I was just about to tuck in when I discovered a very long dark brown hair. Put me right off. With a quick apology from a young server, I reordered an £11.95 dish of a Ploughman's Lunch. I chose something cold because I didnt want to keep the two other guests waiting. That arrived with one single piece of ham on, some pickled onions, cheese which was dried at the edges and salad. Sorry for £11.95 this was dreadful. We paid for the meals and left. We were not offered a free desert or for the ploughman's to be free. I think this is dreadful when I literally pulled a long dark hair out of the meal. By the way, I am short dark blonde hair. Theres far better places to go like The Travellers Rest down the road.”

“We were seated in the nice bright extension. One ordered the steak and ale pie which was delicious, but the chips left a lot to be desired. Dry and hard. The other order was the posh scampi, excellent. Let down by chips dry and hard. A lot of hard bits included. Garden peas. It was a trial lunch for a family gathering later this month. Disappointing.”

“I’ve eaten here a couple of years ago and the Sunday roast was nice however this last visit on 16-Nov 2026 wasn’t as memorable . My partner and me were very disappointed. I had the 3 meat roast and she had beef roast .,all the meat was dry the potatoes where really hard and dry I couldn’t even pierce my fork in it without it sliding away , all the veg was dry and hard like it was reheated from the day before .. the turnips where rock hard , even the Yorkshire pudding was overcooked and charred..I only ate the meat is because i hadn’t had breakfast and was hungry ..All in all there was nothing nice to report about it I definitely will not be going back total waste of my time and money”
