Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often return for the carvery, praising generous slices of meat, tender roasts and well-cooked veg and potatoes, with a smaller version also mentioned as a good offer. One diner who ordered it for delivery called the portion huge and the chocolate fudge cake generous. Close behind are the self-service breakfast, which one visitor found well cooked and another said explained why the pub was so busy, and the fish and chips. Others mention vegetarian options and a pizza chef with a full-size oven. Several describe friendly, helpful staff who fitted in a large group without a booking, and one reviewer suggests reserving on Sundays because it gets very busy. The main complaint is slow bar service. One reviewer stood at the bar for six minutes without acknowledgment and waited a long time for a drink even after ordering online, while another waited at least five minutes, found tables left with dirty plates and glasses, and thought the carvery was under-seasoned and bland. One diner's son found his pizza slow to arrive.

“Stopped for breakfast by shear chance. My car was in a garage down the road. Ive never seen a pub so busy at 9.30am. The great breakfast explained why. Highly recommended 👌”

“Went for lunch today with my son. He went to the bar while I looked for a table. Nearly every empty table had dirty plates and glasses on them. It put me off to be honest. Found a table finally. After looking at the menu I went to the bar to order. I was stood there for atleast 5 minutes no bar staff. I chose a carvery. I have eaten there before, and this time the carvery seemed very under seasoned and bland. The utensils were very hot. There were a couple of flies on the cranberry sauce which was off putting. My so chose a pizza that he enjoyed but took quite a while to arrive. I went to get another round of drinks and again was stood there for a while with no staff around. Overall quite disappointing experience. One of the staff put an empty tray on the table at the side of us to collect some empty plates and glasses which I found quite bad mannered as we were eating. The seat I was sat on had lots of stains on it.”

“Visited here with 5 other members of my family and some accessibilty needs. Laura, our waitress, was so lovely and friendly. Helped us where needed and nothing was too much trouble. Most had the carvery which is always fantastically cooked and really good value for money. The smaller version is a great offer too. One had the fish and chips which was also fantastic. Everything was nice and clean including toilets. A great experience and will definitely return, most likely to try the fish and chips.”

“Brilliant carvery restaurant with good portions. Love going here. Every day of the week the carvery serves so not like some of the other restaurants. Also does vegetarian options. Does othe pub style meals too plus has a pizza chef onsite with a full size pizza oven. Disabled access is great and toilets are clean especially the disabled loo. Best to reserve a table on Sundays as it does get very busy.”

“I ordered The carvery deal today via uber eats for delivery. I noticed most reviews from here were from customers visiting establishment. Speechless! It was amazing. I am very fussy about carveries as always find the veg to be hard and undercooked. Every single item on my plate was cooked to perfection and meat was fresh and tasty. Portion was insane and never known it and really hit the spot. Web pictures dont do it justice so thought I would add my own. Chocolate fudge cake was also generously portioned and delicious. Added a few pickles of choice and was like a full on Christmas dinner. I now have food coma lol If you only have a small appetite then this would have easily served 2 ppl. If you are looking for a Carvery with delivery then dont hesitate to order from here. 2 courses delivered for price was a fantastic deal and will definitely be ordering again from here. I may even visit and sit in when I am next that way. The bonus is, I have no washing up!”
