Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is what reviewers return to most, with the beef, chicken and a porchetta described as phenomenal, and the steak and ale pie praised for chunky, slow cooked meat. Close behind are the pork belly with mustard mash, the garlic mushrooms, lamb knuckle, and sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake for dessert. Several mention friendly, welcoming staff, and the canal side setting, beer garden and real ale with dogs welcome come up as a draw for a walk before or after eating. One reviewer appreciated the half portions on the menu. Criticism is mild but specific: one found service slow for the main course and the prices a little upmarket, another thought the bin areas at the back garden looked untidy, and one wanted more crackling with the pork belly. One reviewer suggests booking to secure a weekend table. A family also describes holding a memorial lunch here and returning a year later to the same kindness.

“Excellent Sunday dinners. The beef and chicken were both phenomenal. The pork was a Porchetta which wasn’t mentioned on the menu. It has a proper traditional pub atmosphere, staff were friendly but service was a little on the slow side for the main course and it is a little more upmarket price wise. Would definitely visit again though”

“First visit after being recommended. Easy to see why it was recommended. We arrived just after opening time, car park already had quite a few cars in. We received a very friendly welcome. After ordering drinks we were given a choice of tables, at least one table was reserved for a party of 6. The menu offers half portions for those with a smaller appetite, brilliant for us. The half portion was still sufficient for both of us. Will definitely return here.”

“We called late afternoon on a sunny day and sat in the garden at the back. The bin areas were a bit untidy but there is plenty of seating in the sunshine. Inside is traditional, clean with friendly welcoming staff. Lovely setting with a canal side walk so a great finishing spot after exploring the area.”
