About The Hesketh Arms
The Hesketh Arms is a dog-friendly pub on Liverpool Rd in Ormskirk, with bowls and treats provided so visitors can bring their dogs along. The kitchen works from a menu of British pub classics and seasonal dishes, including a home made Steak and Guinness pie and tomato soup with focaccia. Chalkboard specials add steak cuts in a choice of sizes, produce from local farms and a catch of the day. The traditional roast dinner is also served to large family groups. The drinks list covers real ales alongside non-alcoholic options. Tables can be reserved through an online booking form, which has space to note seating requests.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the food, with the steak and Guinness home made pie and the tomato soup with focaccia named as standouts, and a Sunday roast for a large family party also praised. Fish and chip Wednesday is described as a surprise and very good value. Close behind is friendly, quick service, with reviewers noting staff who remembered returning customers' orders without writing them down, accommodated five young boys, and prepared a padded chair and extra cushions after a booking note about a bad back. Dog owners mention bowls and treats provided for their pet, and several describe the pub as kid and pet friendly. Large groups of thirteen and seventeen celebrated family occasions here and want to return. The main complaint comes from one reviewer who found the staff abrupt and the chicken Kiev lacking any filling except right at the end, essentially a breaded plain chicken breast for the price. Another noted unpeeled carrots served to a child but did not mind. Several say they plan to come back regularly.

“Attended and had the tomato soup with focaccia, along with a side of chips. Food was tasty, warm and quick. The soup and bread in particular were fantastic. We have been here a few times and always enjoy. Can’t fault the service.”

“We came here having tried another pub owned by the same group but were quite disappointed. The staff seemed very abrupt even though it wasn’t too busy at the time. The chicken Kiev lacked any filling except right at the end, so it was essentially a breaded plain chicken breast. For the price you would expect better food.”

“Fantastic, friendly and professional service. Food was delicious as always. Thank you for a great time. I'm not sure of the waitress's name, maybe Ciel?. She is excellent and remembered us all from our last visit. She is very kind and I'm impressed by her memory, she remembers our orders without pen and paper! Looking forward to eating with you soon.”

“My family attended on July 4th to celebrate my sons 40th birthday. Everyone enjoyed their meals, the service was spot on and all the staff were friendly and efficient. Seventeen of us eager to return”

“Lovely and atmospheric pub full of charm. I used to visit here with my family as a child. I only recently moved back to the area and fifty years on,it is still as I remember. Well worth a visit, varied menu and a good range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Fabulous.”
