Customer Review Summary

Most reviewers return to praise the staff, describing servers as friendly and attentive, and communicative about delays when the restaurant was busy. The food is called fresh, quick and full of flavour, and the open kitchen lets diners watch dishes being cooked. On the vegan menu, the bang bang cauliflower stands out, with banana katsu, vegan sticky ribs and vegan chilli squid also called good. Outdoor tables get credit for harbour views with boats going in and out. The criticism centres on comfort and consistency. Benches and chairs are called uncomfortable over a long meal, and the room can be very loud when full. One reviewer found the cocktails disappointing, and another thought add-ons pushed the bill up. One diner had a main arrive before the starter, felt judged for asking for a jug of water, found the food mediocre for the cost, and learned the desserts they wanted had run out. Another reviewer describes a manager who recognised their family from earlier visits and remembered their food allergies.

“First time we’ve come here and can genuinely say that the staff were amazing. It’s been really busy tonight but staff have been communicative about delays, kind and friendly. We had Jodie and she really went above and beyond for us. We sat outside and the views were great, boats in and out with a nice atmosphere.”

“It's a very beautiful building, the scenery and bathrooms are really nice. The chairs aren't very comfortable to be sat on for 2 hours but it's alright. Unfortunately I wish they would have turned us away as we were waiting quite a long time for any food. My partner had his starter and main come out before I received anything, then I had my main brought out before starter, so we had to request it. Also, why were we made to feel like aliens for requesting a jug of water? Every other wagamama location I've been to has given us a jug of water? Why would you rather bring me out 10 tiny glasses than 1 glass and a jug? I'm not trying to be annoying I have to drink a certain amount of water for my kidney issues. I don't really appreciate being looked at like a weirdo for it? I'm not asking for a jug of poison? The food was okay. Not particularly good or tragic. I don't believe the service or food was particularly worth the price unfortunately. They didn't have the deserts we wanted which was also a shame. I would honestly just say it was quite disappointing. I would've rather been turned away and told they're too busy than to wait so long really. It was also EXTREMELY loud, we were sat 2 feet apart and I couldn't hear. I was also sat facing the literal ball of fire in the sky, and there's no curtain or anything to hide behind so I was literally like an ant under a magnifying glass. (Maybe don't sit people there when it's 7-9pm...) Just a disappointing experience to be honest. We probably spent 20 minutes eating and 120 minutes waiting for someone to come over to the table. Which if there's only 2 of us is a bit odd really... Neither of us particularly loved the food which is a shame as we've been planning coming down here for awhile. We had to cancel our plans after as everytime I've been to a wagamama it's about 45 minutes to be honest. Wasn't expecting to be in there so long. In conclusion it was just not a great experience. 2 hours and £80 later for mediocre food & service isn't particularly the experience I was hoping for :( would've rather just been turned away..!”

“A very modern layout, great selection of Japanese food. Cutlery is also available if you can't use chopsticks! Table service is very fast and you can see your food being prepared and cooked via the open plan kitchen area.”

“Another meal at this great restaurant. The manager who served me and my family today was excellent, he recognised us from previous visits and remembered I have several food allergies. As a hotel owner I can appreciate how good his customer service is and I hope it is recognised what a valuable asset he is to this business.”

“From the moment we arrived, the service was spot on - friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being over the top. The food came out quickly and everything tasted incredibly fresh and full of flavour. You can really tell care goes into each dish. What stood out as well was how easy the whole payment process was using the app - quick, simple, and no waiting around at the end, which just topped off a really smooth experience. Definitely one of the best visits I’ve had in a while. Already looking forward to going back!”
