About The Leandra

On Frankfort Gate in Plymouth, The Leandra is a Greek restaurant owned and run by a family, at 19-21 Frankfort Gate. The kitchen cooks Greek Cypriot dishes alongside classic European plates, steaks and local seafood. Moussaka comes with a Greek salad, pork belly sits among the mains, and sticky toffee pudding appears on the dessert menu. A two-course pre-theatre deal suits diners heading out for the evening. Large parties and group bookings are taken, including groups of 17 or more. The dining room itself is small, so a full house is part of how the restaurant works.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise generous, hot, well-portioned food and friendly staff at this family-run Greek restaurant. Reviewers name moussaka with Greek salad, pork belly, a tender chicken ballotine, meatballs to start and a Caribbean coffee with Bacardi. Large groups feature repeatedly, with parties of 8, 17 and 21 describing dishes arriving together and front of house coping with a full room. One reviewer was glad they had booked in advance, as every seat filled by the time they left. Two pre-theatre diners mention a two-course deal, and others call the value good. The complaints are fewer but specific. One reviewer describes a burnt sticky toffee pudding too hard to cut, served with custard instead of the chocolate soil and ice cream on the dessert menu, plus a hot chocolate that turned out to be lumpy cocoa mix. Another found the meatballs a tad cold. A third diner was told the pork had run out only once starters were being eaten, and reordered a different main.

“Unfortunately, my sticky toffee pudding which I have ordered, was simply burnt. I had to leave a huge chunk of it uneaten for it was simply impossible to cut a piece of it because of how overcooked it was. On top of that, the dessert menu states that STP is being served with chocolate soil and ice cream; instead, it had arrived without any soil and with custard. As far as I have understood, the lunch menu features STP with custard, but it is a shame the dessert menu is not updated on time. I have also ordered a 'hot chocolate', which was not a hot chocolate, but a cocoa, which is a huge difference. It was badly stirred, so chunks of cocoa were swimming at the bottom. By tasting them, it becomes clear that not only the hot chocolate turns out to be a cocoa, but the cocoa is not really a cocoa but a cocoa mix – charging £4 for a mix seems to much for me. However, it is fair to point out a friendly service and politeness of the waiting persons working at the restaurant – that is why my rating is not one star, but two.”

“All the positive comments are based around the excellent service provided by the lady front of house. We had a large group of of 17+ pre booked. The restaurant was full to capacity and with a few move arounds we were all seated well. The service was slick under so much pressure. Great customer service. On top of that excellent food for the price. Would definitely recommend it. Thankyou for a lovely evening”

“Enjoyed a lovely meal on Sunday 21st June 2026 to celebrate Father's Day and my sons 14th Birthday! The food was phenomenal!!! Cooked and prepared to perfection!!! The waiting staff were superb ; friendly and welcoming, polite and courteous and were smartly dressed! So glad we booked in advance as by the time we left there wasn't a spare seat in the house!!! Far superior to our usual choice of restaurant!! Will be back in the future without a doubt!! Thank you Team Leandra!”
