About Olive & Twist - Plymouth City Centre
Olive & Twist is an eclectic restaurant on Old Town St in Plymouth, opened in May 2024. The kitchen serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, and the menu pairs a smash burger and pulled pork boa buns with small plates and sharing platters, including a honey camembert. Bottomless brunch comes with cocktails from the bar, and afternoon teas are on offer for those who prefer something lighter. Groups have options too. A private dining room and an upstairs room both take group bookings, such as hen dos, and the team handles event hire and Christmas parties. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Bottomless brunch is what reviewers return to most, with several calling it the best they have had, praising cocktails that arrived quickly and singling out the passion fruit martini and pink coladas. Close behind are the smash burger, the pulled pork boa buns, a continental sharing board at breakfast and the salted caramel martini, while others mention mocktails and kinder waffles at a family birthday lunch. The decor and atmosphere draw repeated praise, and several describe friendly, welcoming servers, with one hen party given an upstairs room to themselves. Slow service is the recurring complaint: one reviewer waited about half an hour for drinks at breakfast, and another found a single bartender stretched thin in a quarter-full room, with average cocktails. One diner also found the platters expensive for what they contained. One reviewer reports a honey camembert that smelled and tasted bitter and was past its date on the wrapper, leaving them feeling sick, though the waitress apologised and removed it from the bill.

“Ive eaten at Olive & Twist many times and this was the first time I was very disappointed. We attended our meal for my daughters birthday before attending the Theatre. We ordered the 5 small plates to give us a mixture. One of the dishes was the honey camembert, this was very smelly and when tasted very bitter. Camembert is one of my favourite dishes but this was awful, when we looked on the wrapper it was out of date that day. The cheese made our whole table stink as it was this bad. Surely the chef should be checking the dates of their food before serving. The waitress was totally amazing when I explained the issue and she even found the smell of the cheese offensive when stood at our table. The item was removed from our bill and she was very apologetic. Im writing this review only for the hope this is relayed back to the chef as I spent my evening at the theatre feeling sick with a disgusting taste in my mouth all night. This affected my enjoyment of the show.”

“We have visited Olive & Twist twice now and it doesn’t disappoint. Lovely atmosphere, staff are friendly and attentive without it being too much or interrupting your meal. The smash burger is insane and we also really enjoyed the cocktails, especially the salted caramel martini, which is to die for if you have a sweeth tooth! We will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely meal :)”

“Went here for a bottomless brunch and this was the best one I've been too. The cocktails were good quality and and quick in coming to the table. The passion fruit martini was excellent. The food was also good quality and a decent portion. Service could not be faulted. Lovely interior decor for photos if a special occasion.”

“Went here last night for a friend’s birthday. Initial intro was good but drinks took a very long time to arrive. This is a cocktail bar and only one person behind the bar which isn’t sufficient. When we finished our drinks we then had to wait to find a waitress and call her over for more drinks and the wait again for them to be made. Considering the place was only a quarter full they should have been over to take orders before we had finished our drinks. On top of the poor service, I would say the cocktails were average. Lovely decor and atmosphere so if they could sort out the service and drinks it could be a great place.”

“Hosted a hen do here this weekend, they gave us a room to ourselves upstairs. The staff were super friendly and attentive, great food and atmosphere. Bottomless brunch drinks were amazing and super fast service. Majority of our party told me it's the best bottomless brunch they have ever had! 10/10 would recommend either for a party or just to pop in and try the food!”
